GPU Availability and Pricing Update, April 2022: Inching Ever Closer to MSRP

Did you use the associate code to save an extra 3% on your order? 3% doesn't sound like much, but it's generally enough of a reduction to basically cover the cost of shipping.

Also, you just never know, your choice now could be good or bad. Don't forget that with the rumors of the 4xxx coming out will be a much higher power draw. If things are true, top end cards could be looking to be 600W, but so far that's just rumors. Just something to keep in mind.

I did not, wasn't aware there was such a code unfortunately for me. Another $30 off would have been nice indeed.

Power draw is surely higher than my 1080 I had before, the real chore is my previous GPU wasn't liquid cooled, the added heat load to my loop (I had planned on eventually going liquid cooling for my GPU) is more than I had originally anticipated. Benchmarks aside I've not given the card a proper gaming session to see how warm things get. Should be interesting to watch my coolant temps and see where they end up.

IT's absolutely shocking to me that the crypto scams and scalpers pushed GPU prices so ridiculously high and made it extremely difficult to buy the GPU you wanted at MSRP.

I was fortunate enough to have been able to wait on line and get the cards I wanted at MSRP before the madness really kicked off (after Cyberpunk was released).

I just hope we'll never see this nonsense again.

I still blame the manufacturers tho.

If Apple could force people to pre-order and virtually eliminate scalping of iPhones, there's no reason GPU cards should be subject to such manipulations.

Hell must be freezing over because I agree with QP for once.

and of course, the demand from the crypto mining market has fallen off a cliff due to low profitability.

This is wrong and misleading, I don't think you are in touch with the Market in Germany.

I can't speak about non-EU markets but I believe Miners in other parts of the world will be doing pretty much the same thing that EU Miners are doing, and EU Miners are currently buying GPUs as you 'll see in the E-BAY.DE listings below, only a few days old wherein used NON-LHR 3060 ti's with a couple of years 24/7 Mining on their back sold for around $1K USD.

I see the same thing here in Greece wherein new and used GPU prices spiked after a massive drop on or about 31 March 2022.

Miners are still in the market and they are buying in bulk b/c ETH's move to PoS has been indefinitely postponed for the 6th or 7th time in the last 8 years or so.

That means you are not likely to see GPU prices normalize anytime soon and you are not likely to see ETH move to PoS anytime soon (if ever) neither b/c Miners keep buying and they are no fools.

P.S.: Note how the Miners claim that some of these cards are "Neu" or "Brandneu" but if you believe that, I've got a statue in NYC to sell you.

I gotta say, Ethereum is really being a disappointment. Their maxis constantly talking such a big, pious game about sustainability and their protocol being the future and then they just keep stumbling at the threshold of going proof of stake while their protocol's gas prices rise to the point it's infeasible to actually *do* anything on it.
