GPU jams, turns off after 5 mins of gaming

My screen goes black after 5 min of gaming , I can tell that the gpu seems to jam cause the blinking light stops blinking and the vents gpu vents stop , everything else inside the case is still running , I have checked the temps and at full load they don't seem to go above 85 degrees Celsius. This pus is a new one so what might the problem be?

"I can tell that the gpu seems to jam cause the blinking light stops blinking and the vents gpu vents stop" ... blinking light?....vents=fans??

85C is pretty hot. GPU may actually be throttling because it is so hot. When last cleaned?

Needs both 6 and 8 pin power, so worth checking for full insertion/good contact.

Big powerful card needs lots of juice and it gets hot.

NewEgg reviews indicate a fair number of RMAs under 3 year warranty.
