Graphics programs crash on print command

Lately, when I click on "print" in any graphics program, I get a frozen hourglass, and CTRL ALT DELETE reveals that the program is not responding. I can print from word programs, and if I paste a .bmp file into a word document, I can print it. None of my diagnostics show anything wrong. Is there a debugging program that would show me what is happening when the programs stop responding?

The obvious first step is to uninstall, reboot and reinstall your printer software.

Printer software?

I use three printers with this computer -- two hooked directly and one over a network. I have several print-to-file options as well. These crashes occur when I hit the print option in any graphics program except GIMP, long before I choose among any of the print options. Could corrupt printer software be responsible for that? -Joe
