What just happened? The hype surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI took a serious hit earlier this month when Rockstar announced that the highly anticipated game would miss its planned fall 2025 release window. However, the developer offered fans a consolation this week with an unexpected second trailer that dives deeper into the game's storyline and its two main characters, Jason and Lucia.

The new trailer looks into the lives of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos – a duo that "have always known the deck is stacked against them." When an easy score goes south, they suddenly find themselves "on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America" and in the middle of a conspiracy that stretches across the entire state.

The footage, which was captured on a PlayStation 5, is only the second official look at the game following the release of the announcement trailer back in December 2023. That trailer has since been viewed more than 252 million times on YouTube. The new trailer is a bit longer than the original and has far fewer pop culture references, but is still heavy on the cinematics. As such, actual gameplay is still somewhat of a mystery.

GTA VI was to be Rockstar's crown jewel of the 2025 holiday season with a fall launch, but that's no longer in the cards. Last week, the developer said it needed more time to put the finishing touches on the game in order to deliver a product that meets expectations. As such, it's now due out on May 26, 2026.

Cost is another concern for the potential blockbuster. A recent report from one analyst suggests the game could debut with a $100 price tag – far more than the current $70 premium game price point and even more than Nintendo is planning to charge for AAA Switch 2 games. Fortunately, the analyst's track record isn't the best so perhaps the $100 price point is just a pipe dream.

What are your thoughts on GTA VI to this point? I'm personally loving what I'm seeing, although I'm not sure if buying a console for one game makes a whole lot of sense.

They're gonna charge $100 for the game and microtransaction the hell out of the thing like they're currently doing with GTA5 online. I'll wait a few years and wait until it goes on sale.

It's Rockstar so the odds of those main characters ending the game alive and well are slim to none. My guess is they'll have players build a strong emotional attachment to both and then choose which one gets to live. Knowing Rockstar, one of them will be forced to kill the other. Better than a cowboy limping around with tuberculosis for half the game, I suppose.

Honesty who cares about the price. I wouldn't want to pay $100 for a typical video game, but GTA6 is going to be well above and beyond the quality of a typical full priced game.

And you can just not play online. I have hundreds of hours in Gtav, never played online.

99.99% you can get everything on GTA5 without buying anything.

At this point, I'm just wondering if they'll make their player movement system less rigid and over-reactionary.

Didn't get into the last one (only played it because it was free to me). But I clearly remember that it just felt bad in comparison to the many other games I've played with fluid movement systems.

The problem is that it's going to take 99.9% of your time to "earn" it while playing so you aren't playing the game, you're working.
If you suck at the game perhaps...

I haven't spent a dime more than the actual game and have got everything online and barely play 4 hours a week.

If the gameplay of a game is work to you, you shouldn't be playing it because it isn't fun, do something else. If you have to pay more money to enjoy a game by fast-tracking, then stop, because no one gives half a donkey's ballsack about the size of your epeen.

Everyone enjoys games however they please... if you want to enjoy the "good parts" of a game then you are entitled to... if you don't want to grind for the "good stuff", and don't regret paying for this, then good for you...

Some people feel that a bit of "unfun" gameplay is worth the payoff later... up to the individual... since there are SO many people who DO pay money, I suspect that many disagree with your viewpoint.

To that I will reply that I will reply with a Captain Jack Sparrow joke. "you need to find yourself a girl, mate"

I say that as someone who makes more real money than I do game currency and still refuses to buy into their nonsense. I'm also cheap as hell so maybe I don't count

Got a girl, got a high paying job and I am also cheap, hence why I grind for things instead of buying.

Pretty simple, just get better at the game.

It is probably going to be good but I noticed people are losing their **** over it like it's gonna change their life. Did I miss something? In terms of gameplay, what's it going to have that is so better than GTA V? I will probably end up driving around and shooting people like in every other iteration of the game.

Looking forward to it, for PC.... heh. We'll see. I don't console, and 5 for PC sold well so I don't see why they aren't releasing PC at the same time. Seems a stupid decision. As for the cost, well $100 is fine as long as it meets the hype. If it is much larger than 5 was, still a solid and reliable game, and just as entertaining and playable as 5 then I don't see an issue with the price. I love the cinematics, GTA has always been good at that. I also enjoyed GTA 4 though too, so I think I'm a bit of an outlier. For me 4 was my favorite, the story was in depth and felt real, and I enjoyed the somewhat realistic driving simulation the game offered. 5 just felt too arcadey. Now that's fine if you like that, so if they could offer multiple levels of simulation then they could please mostly everyone.
