HDD not seen

I'm trying to re-install XP Home oem (SP3) on a sata drive in a Dell Dimension XPSGen3. The error message "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed"... stops the installation. If I try to run Recovery Console, same error message.

I've slipstreamed the Intel sata drivers for the ICH6R controller onto the cd, no luck. Tried F6 and installing from a floppy, same thing.

Curiously, if I boot to the hard drive, xp loads and runs, both sata drives are accessible. But when booting from the cd it just doesn't see any drives.

are u sure you are on ICH6R? If you are unsure you can check the motherboard for the sata controller chip name. If it's not you should probably download a copy of the driver and use it on floppy @ F6. slipstreaming sometimes fail. I advise u try another cd
