Inactive Help with possible multiple malware removal

Well until recently I had known my computer was infected but since I almost never type personal information on it I feigned ignorance. I knew it was a bad idea and as always am paying the consequences. As far as the issues, I've been having numerous connection issues over the last month and at this point I can't connect to any video games that I frequent almost every day. Over the past month I've had to constantly switch between wired and wireless connection at varying intervals just to keep a decent connection. When I woke up this morning to check on a bot I run for an old game, for laughs, it had lost connection as was common in the last couple weeks. I did the usual of shutting it down and switching from the wired connection to wireless but unlike the norm it wouldn't work. I opened internet explorer and it was running fine with no interruptions. Which was also wierd since normally both wouldn't work. So, I went to work aggravated and thinking maybe a couple hours of shutdown for both the modem and Computer would fix the issue. Hours later when I came home still the same thing so I downloaded malware bytes and found NUMEROUS files and through countless scans have been able to lower it down to 2 reoccuring files in the svchost.

I'm not amazingly tech savvy so figured I'd come to those blessed with such knowledge for help with what I think is a serious issue. All I ask is that if/when someone does show up to help, they have patience since I work thurs-sun from 10am-9:30pm. Oh also, as of now my system is working fine aside from the inability to connect to game servers. So I SHOULD have no issues working in normal mode :D

Please see here for the board rules and other FAQ.

Please feel free to introduce yourself, after you follow the steps below to get started.

Hey and thank you for the response. The only change I made before I went to bed was I downloaded the free norton security suite offered with my comcast service. Unluckily the trojan keeps disabling the antivirus here and there so... Also I leave for work in a couple minutes :(

TDSSKiller: I was unable to even get the program downloaded. Whenever I click on the link I download it and no matter where I save it I keep getting a file instead of a folder. Double click on the file and it just asks me what program I want to open it with. Right click to see if I could see the option to run as admin but since its not an .exe I'm kind of puzzled.

*EDIT*- Had an extremely wierd occurence when I was trying to post this adcleaner log. Everytime I would press ctrl v it would freeze the browser. Did it 3 times in a row until I finally just did a right click paste.

  • FRST will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive and also the search.txt logfile, please copy and paste the logs in your reply.

Alright I tried to download the file on the infected computer but of coarse my antivirus disabled and it linked me something completely different. I will go out tomorrow and see if I can buy a flash drive after work and then attempt the program from a different computer. Just so you know the program it made me download was something called "download manager" which my antivirus detected as malicious.

Can you do the download on a different computer?

Let me know how this works out... we do have other options additionally. :)

Haha. Sorry for the late response but life is complicating more and more everyday, as always.

But yes I was able to download it on the uninfected computer but I don't have the money to throw at a flash drive atm and don't have one laying around.

I will try again to download it on the infected computer and just see if I can run the test from the system itself. Sorry for the hassle but I have little to no disposable income which is why I am trying to redeem this computer.

Okay. Let's go back to Normal Mode, then...

ComboFix

Please download ComboFix
combofix.gif
by sUBs
From BleepingComputer.com

Please save the file to your Desktop, but rename it first to svchost.exe

Important information about ComboFix

Before the download:
  • Please copy and paste these instructions to Notepad and save to your Desktop, or print them - for easier access.
  • It is important to rename ComboFix before the download.
  • Please do not rename ComboFix to other names, but only the one indicated.
After the download:
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Very Important: Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results". Please visit here if you don't know how.
  • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
  • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until ComboFix has completely finished.
  • If there is no Internet connection after running ComboFix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.
Running ComboFix:
  • Double click on svchost.exe & follow the prompts.
  • It will attempt to install the Recovery Console:
  • When ComboFix finishes, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\Combo-Fix.txt" in your next reply.
Troubleshooting ComboFix

Safe Mode:

If you still cannot get ComboFix to run, try booting into Safe Mode, and run it there.

(To boot into Safe Mode, tap F8 after BIOS, and just before the Windows
logo appears. A list of options will appear, select "Safe Mode.")

Re-downloading:

If this doesn't work either, try the same method (above method), but try to download it again, except name
ComboFix.exe to iexplore.exe, explorer.exe, or winlogon.exe.

Malware is known for blocking all "user" processes, except for its whitelist of system important processes such as iexplore.exe, explorer.exe, winlogon.exe.

NOTE: If you encounter a message "illegal operation attempted on registry key that has been marked for deletion" and no programs will run - please just reboot and that will resolve that error.
