WARNING: its been said this trailer contains massive spoilers. even the director says so and to avoid it if you want to avoid spoilers.

A trailer is a spoiler by nature.

At least we can expect some big twist or revelation and be prepared to see the character A fighting/killing the character B

I cannot say that I trust Abrams to do a good job with this film, so I am not sure that I trust him when he says that this trailer has major spoilers. If it does have major spoilers, then I am not at all optimistic that this will be a good film. I mean if the trailer majorly spoils the film, then what is left to see in the theater??? Given some of Abrams recent work, I could easily see him getting himself into this kind of situation where the trailer spoils the film and the film, itself, leaves much to be desired.

1, 2, 3, and now 8, were not all that great IMO with 8 being mostly a rehash of 4, however, that seems to be the general trend these days with only the exceptional release being a truly great film.

You can trust he wont because he is not directing it.

I agree with your point about revealing too much in the preview. It's usually a sign of a poor story line.
