Free video editing software:

1) Blender 3d (aka Blender) - [Windows, Mac, Linux];
2) DaVinci Resolve (not Studio Edition) - [Windows, Mac, Linux];
3) HitFilm Express - [Windows, Mac];
4) Avid MCF (Media Composer First) - [Windows, Mac];
5) Lightworks - [Windows, Mac, Linux];
6) Kdenlive - [Windows, Mac, Linux].

Welcome to the TS Forums. (I'm fairly new here as well :) )

I have had the same need and if you are not familar with the programs, some of them can come across as very daunting. I'm not sure how often that you are going to need to convert video formats like that, but what I normally use is a free program called, "Any Video Converter". It is Window's based, so if you are on a Macor Linux, I would suggest looking at the alternatives that they have listed here. Since I noticed that there were a few Mac and Linux based ones there as well.

The main reason that I suggested that program after MirekFe's wonderful list of free editing softwares is due to your comment of not being,"Tech Savy" in this area, and I am trying to make it fairly easy for you:)

Good luck!
