hi, I need to configure my nat settings on my router so me and my bro can play starcraft broodwar together under the same ip.. is there a way to do it that is supported by sc 1.16.1 as of today?

-starcraft broodwar servers currently do not support this and ive heard that there is a very
complicated work around..?-

What router do you currently have?!? Unless you have a high end router: cisco, juniper networks, brocade, etc. NAT should be enabled & running by default. NAT, or Network Address Translation; simply put - "is the process of modifying IP address information in IP packet headers while in transit across a traffic routing device" [see link here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_address_translation ] As long as you have a router in place, NAT occurs automatically.

If you and your brother are on the same network, connected to the same router, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to play SC1 - I have LAN parties where we play with 4-8 of us, all behind the same router.

Now, if you are looking to play SC1 and you and your bother are NOT connected to the same router, or are NOT in the same physical location geographically... My friends and I play "over the internet, WAN games" via a virtual VPN program called hamachi [see link: https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/download.aspx ] This allows friends of mine in multiple states, or continents to play as if we were on the same physical network. Depending on your router, you might have to forward a couple of ports to your PC on your local LAN. [see link: hamachi ports: http://help.logmein.com/SelfServiceKnowledgeRenderer?type=FAQ&id=kA030000000DGD6CAO how to port forward: http://portforward.com/ ]

I hope this helps, take care!

its a linksys(cisco) e1000, and I heard you can configure the nat under like root commands? so that 2 people can play under same ip??

The way hamachi works, it gives each user a "real world" ip. One user in SC1 logs in and creates a TCP/IP game as host, then the other person/people connect via their hamachi ip, NOT their ISPs ip addres. example: I'm connecting to my friends game on hamachi ip of: 5.123.221.17 instead of his isps ip address of: 60.80.210.152. Make sense?!? I'd post screenshots, but I'm out on business and I'm posting to the forum from my iPad.

I get it, it assigns each person behind the router a virtual ip? and with that vip 2 people at the same address can play in the game together?

then hopefully, me and my bro can play in the same games together, thanks man ill test it out myself and let you know

Ok, I'll gladly help you on this one, but I am out of town on business, and NOT at home on my PC to give you the step-by-step instructions. I will be back early next week & I can post instructions then.
