HP / Dell / etc. laptop password help thread

for the last 3 posts:

read through the thread and be aware that the best way is to contact the dell support first. even if others tell different, they are supportive and they will give you help. you may have to prove ownership or claime it.
other methods would be to buy a password from ebay or any site mentioned in this thread or to use the shorting method which is available for 'older' models only (e.g. d600)

I already contact dell through email, but got deniel email after a month of waiting. I know there used to be a lot of people that unlock bios password for a little fees at this site ( got my dell unlocked for $60) and I remember some people even unlock for cheaper with toshiba, hp etc... laptop. Seem like they've been chased away.

I don't mind giving a small donation for their services.

you should call their hotline. email is useless since you need to give and probably prove personal information!

use google and you will find lots of them....

personally I think you could solution for your problem already but instead you seem to rather spend time posting in forums instead. not sure what you are really looking for if you are willing to pay. to me it doesn't sound very serious but feel free to do what you want to do....

good luck anyway

  • ...No paid services allowed. You will get banned in no time, instead go somewhere else where that is permissible.

Note: "No paid services" includes donations
TechSpot is non Profit for its support members, so instead of mindless abuse, or posting any money amounts to be paid to any member here, maybe give a Thank-you instead, or go somewhere else to pay some guy an exorbitant amount!

... but feel free to do what you want to do....
Adhering to the above of course, and everything else in the first post here

Hello all!! This is my first post ever, wonder if someone can help a brutha out with a BIOS password?!? Usually I'm the family/church computer guru, but I'm stumped. Nephew asked me to see if I could boot his girlfriend's laptop (don't know where she got it from), and I get a white and grey screen. Reading this thread, I'm hopefully providing the correct information?? Here goes: Service Tag 33MGGF1, Service Code: 6749464861. Have spent almost 3 weeks, every day trying to be a hero and bombing out horribly. Thanx for reading, and any help is greatly appreciated!!

Hello again! I was hoping (begging?!) HPGL wouldn't mind providing assistance in creating a BIOS password? I hope I'm asking the right way, this is the first time I've ever used a forum to look for computer help. Anyway, thanx again for reading my post. I may just have to give this laptop back to my nephew (and get back to my normal life)?!

I'm the family/church computer guru, but ...
Pretty sure your god, would want you to find your password the right (legal) way!
Please contact the manufacture (Dell is $39, and Hp I'm working on, I had to re-write my question to them, in a reply!)

Noob question, did I misunderstand the purpose of the thread? I ask because it seems as though some people are saying that we should pay the manufacturer or find a paid 3rd party for unlocks, and some are saying that people here (like hpgl) will help us with unlocks so we don't have to pay for a service that should be free.

Hi, looking for an unlock for an Inspiron 1720.

service tag - #BLT1MD1-595B

Getting the <service tag> is protected by password authentication system. you cannot access the data on this computer without the correct password.

I'm guessing there's no luck with this?

i prefere to to go pay 3rd party service and get quik solution that....paying DELL inc and providing my real personal information...if any one want a link to 3rd service plz email me i will be glad to help

I have a problem paying outrageous amounts of money for something that takes a couple minutes at most. The 3rd party people want $60US or more, for what? typing a string of numbers into a code generator program and then typing the result in an email to you. Let's see.. minimum wage in the US is $6.55/hour. so if it takes someone even 10 minutes to do this, it's worth less than a dollar. Just because it's your only resource to solve the problem doesn't give them the right to charge out the nose. Dell is almost as bad. mine is out of warranty and they won't even let me speak to tech support without paying.

well, if you have a unique product economy calls this value pricing or do you think a ferrari is made of gold? people are free to charge whatever they want and believe me its not just typing in a number. it takes hours, days maybe weeks or months to build such a keygen on that basis. so your maths isn't really correct. however, it is your choice whether to use it or not. people who charge money for this service are not welcome in this forums since this is made as a place where people help eachother for free.

not sure if this applies in your country but I got alot of dell laptops for which I called dell to extend the warranty. this was around 50 euros and I could ask them for passwords all day after that. so, I don't see the problem here...
all you need to do is claim the ownership if you are not already the legal owner and extend the warranty for 1 year.
and for those who say they don't want to give them personal data: this sounds not much legal to me :)

good luck! be asured I would help you with the passwords if I only had a keygen....

My God encourages me to be a blessing to people whenever I can. If a family member/church member, friend, co-worker, whatever comes to me with a computer question, I give them the best answer I can. I get satisfaction from being able to help people for free with their computer problems. I also enjoy forums like this one, where people ask for advice and get helpful replies from others who enjoy sharing their helpful, constructive input. I'm not interested in doing anything illegal, I just wanna increase my knowledge in troubleshooting computers and help others in the process.

This thread is intended to help find a free (or manufacture) reponse to BIOS password removal
Please Google for anything else (ie paid services not covered by this thread)

Otherwise approach your Manufacture for the cheapest method (other than the open free help by hpgl)

hello all . ive been reading posts for a few months and allthough many users try to help users without any gratitude this will not be the case.ive tried to resolve my issue with a Dell lattitude c640 i purchased at a flea market six months ago.I was told the battery was fried so i purchased one and it powered on.(at this point i was excited that i actually got a laptop for 60.00)then i met my biggest headache ever.the imfamous grey and white primary or administrator password as my bios loaded. i cannot access setup or boot sequence.people may say i was gullable for payin only 60.00 but as a 29 yr old father of four you take advantage of seemingly good deals when introduced(yea im gullable) anyone who may help all i need to know is how to get passed.if the paperclip method works then a descipted image or explanation of eeprom chip or the 24c02 if possible thanks and im looking forward to any help in this situation

Help With a Dell Inspiron E1405 Bios Password

I am having issues with a bios password that is of the -595B variety.

35VGLC1-595B

If anyone can help with this I'd truly appreciate it as I could actually use this machine instead of parting it out like I had thought.

I have been through most of the usual or mentioned steps with this model and ultimately it sounds like I may need to pin jump the PROM, which I am comfortable doing however, I have not had much luck yet in locating it and positively identifying it.

If anyone can help it'd be much appreciated.
