Icon Layout Reset Each Time I Turn The Computer On

Hey guys / girls,
This problem I first encountered about 2 days ago, and it has continued to bug me each time I turn on my computer in the morning. I have my icons nicely arranged to suit my needs (Recycle Bin in right hand corner, games on the top left etc etc). That was all fine, but now, when I turn on my computer, the icons all align to the left of the screen. Suggestions anyone?

Here's what the right click looks like:
Name, Size, Type, Modified - All Unchecked
Auto Arrange - Unchecked
Align To Grid - Checked
Show Desktop Icons - Checked
Lock Web Items - Unchecked

What is your OS ? Suggest you chnage resolution of the desktop, reboot. Change resolution back, uncheck 'align with grid'. Replace icons exactly where you want them and reboot one final time.

Windows XP SP3. Doing the steps you suggested now.
