I'll come back when things are working properly

LOL, that's cool SNGX -- Was just offering my personal feelings to the matter, it doesn't mean they match yours.

I see your point completely though.

That would be sidestepping the issue though. I think that if that happened, it would be valuable. But I don't like it. What if its a user option?

Yeah, I don't know what's possible from the development side. I just figured it'd be far easier to implement a more targeted "mark as read" button than it would be to add a separate automatic function.

Perhaps the ability to mark all threads read in a specific forum category would solve the issue then?
You can already do this as far as I'm aware. Just go to the category and click 'Mark Forums Read' on the top menu. A pop-up will appear asking if you want to mark everything as read or just the category you are looking at.

10% of the time I get this error with TechSpot links. I don't have a clue what it means.

502 Bad Gateway

Major edit:
I just received that error while posting and then another 10 times while trying to edit this post to inform about getting the error while posting.

I just noticed that when I reply to a thread, I was adding it to my watched thread list. I have since turned this feature off because I don't want to be notified every time I reply to a thread.

However I am unable to see a list of my watched threads. The page "My watched threads" shows nothing on the page. There is no listing of my watched threads. This lead to some confusion as I didn't know why I was being notified about additional comments in this thread.

Edit:

Never mind, :( I just noticed there are two different watched threads, "My watched threads" and "All watched threads"

As we had discussed earlier, the first request is really hard to do (and to do right). Let alone dedicating efforts to format a post in both templates, and then if we need to update a post... phew. On the other hand, your second request (open in new window) is super easy, so I'll get that done today.

News from the forum has the little one sentence and a link to the real front page post, that still doesn't pop a new tab (opens in same tab still).

I did look into this, and it wasn't as trivial as I thought. Because XF only allows bbcode (or equivalents) I can't simply plug in a A HREF tag with open in new window attribute. I will have to install a third party add-on to do that, just for you :) Just give me a little more time.

You can always shift-click for now :) (depending on you browser/OS the shortcut might be different though)

Not problem solved, for a couple reasons:

1. I'm mostly browsing on a MBP using the trackpad, no mouse.
2. Middle click opens in a background tab. I know it can be changed, but I like middle click opening in background. I want this in the foreground (well ideally, the full news story to appear on the forums so I don't have to leave the forums to read the news, but that was addressed sufficiently above). I'm not going to change middle click behavior just to get the news to pop a foreground tab.
