I want to let you know that Combofix did fix some of the problems.

Update your Java version here: http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp

Note 1: UNCHECK any pre-checked toolbar and/or software offered with the Java update. The pre-checked toolbars/software are not part of the Java update.

Note 2: The Java Quick Starter (JQS.exe) adds a service to improve the initial startup time of Java applets and applications. If you don't want to run another extra service, go to Start > Control Panel > Java > Advanced > Miscellaneous and uncheck the box for Java Quick Starter. Click OK and restart your computer.

Now, we need to remove old Java version and its remnants...

Download JavaRa to your desktop and unzip it to its own folder
  • Run JavaRa.exe (Vista users! Right click on JavaRa.exe, click Run As Administrator), pick the language of your choice and click Select. Then click Remove Older Versions.
  • Accept any prompts.

I am surprised. I do not believe that I have Java on this computer. Where was it located? It was not in my list of programs. I also chjecked the add/remove list in Control Panel.
 
Before I do all of this, please tell me what I need Java for. We do not play games, etc on the computer. We do not play movies either.
 
I do not mind uninstalling something that may be there. If it is there, it has to be from a program that I am unaware of or exceptionally OLD.

I encounter a major problem last night. While working with Java and JavaRa my computer shut down. I could not get online and called the cable people. They did ask me to reset my computer to an earlier date and by doing so I lost Java again. I worked with another tech. person this morning and I am up and running again. I have reinstalled Java and run the JavaRa.
In all this My Kaspersky program says that my data base is corrupted. And I have a corrupted Black List. I do not have mail anti-virus connected wtih Kaspersky. I shall try and update that program again also.
 
Rootkit Scan: malfunction (events: 2, objects: 0, time: 00:00:00)

This just came up with Kaspersky.

Using a system restore in the middle of cleaning process is never a good idea, because, if some restore points were infected, the infection would be back.
Since you had no other option to get your computer up and running again and it doesn't seem to be infected, you should be OK.
However, in addition to "Quick scan" from OTL I'd like you to update Malwarebytes, run "Quick scan" and post its log.
 
I often have an error on the page and I do again tonight. My computer if far from running good again and I do not mind doing what is necessary to get it cleaned up again. After I finally got it back online, my Kaspersky had three units not working; file anti-virus, web anti-virus, and im anti-virus. There were 3 viruses, t trojans, 3 adwares and 2 risk wares, corrupted data bases and black list. The whole program had basically shut down. I had to do a repair on it, up date it, and finally got it back to running. As of now, Microsoft pictures program are not working well. My SanDisk is having a problem relaying the information back to the computer. The normal MS system is no longer working. Some things are very slow again but they have not shut down. I am going to update and run Malwarebytes now. I shall post its log after that.

At this point, as I said earlier, I don't believe, your problems are caused by any infection.
So far, all scans come up clean.

Please run a free online scan with the ESET Online Scanner

  • Disable your antivirus program
  • Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use
  • IMPORTANT! UN-check Remove found threats
  • Click Start
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Check Scan archives
  • Click Start
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  • When the scan completes, push List of found threats
  • Push Export to text file , and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
 
I ran the ESET Online Scanner and NO threats were found. Therefore, no report was offered. It took a long time and I had to manual reboot when it froze up again. It appears the comuter is clean.

What if I repair MS Office again and also Windows. That would fix many of the problems and add the missing parts making this machine run so poorly.

We will be out of town tomorrow for medical matters so I will not be able to do more on this machine until Thursday. WOW, it was running so great before it blacked out and I lost a lot. It is just going to take time to get it back to that point again.

OK, your computer is malware free and it doesn't look like it ever was infected.

I'll have to ask you to create new topic at Windows forum to get more help.
