India fined HP $14.4 million for rigging government bids and fixing ink and toner prices

Factitiously puerile statements like this obscure the reality here: when only civil laws were broken, not criminal, the only possible penalty is a civil fine.

We need to start charging people with libel when they improperly use terms like "fraud", even when they do so on anonymous Internet forums.

Here comes the resident pedo trump defender and large rich corporation defender telling us that we should leave these companies alone. Next thing you'll tell us is that it's the fault of the regulations not HP's fault.

How about you finding out the difference between civil and criminal aspects of antitrust cases.
(link deleted)
You should actually read links before posting them. Nothing in it even remotely supports your position: it in fact makes clear the distinction I noted:

"...Civil antitrust cases aim to restore competition by imposing remedies such as damages...Conversely, criminal antitrust cases involve prosecuting conduct deemed criminal under federal law...."

I'll be nice and not ridicule your posting a summary of US federal antitrust law in reference to a case in India.

Here comes the champion of Romania: the European center for child trafficking and exploitation ... and ground zero for the budding neo-fascism now sweeping the continent.

And those able to properly learn and understand that complex language called 'English' realize the intent of my posts is simply to advocate for the truth. Most of the acts HP are being penalized for here were committed by third-party suppliers. But those are Indian firms, and India would rather fine the large foreign conglomerate.

But everything doesn't have to get derailed into a debate. Noone has actually talked about HP or what they did in this thread yet. Noone is actually talking about the article, it went straight to rules of engagement when noone was looking for a fight.

You’re describing a perspective; not the perspective.

Personally, I disagree that nobody was talking about the article—although it did get pretty thoroughly derailed. Generally, I think you both have a lot to offer from your perspectives. But, it seems to me, in this case, you both turned it into something else rather than trying to speak professionally to each other and attempt to see things from a different angle. You both seem to care too much about “being correct” for some reason, and/or worrying about what the other thinks.

You’re well aware this forum consists of a wide range of opinions. Any post can be met with retort for any number or reasons—some are not insightful and others are a result of simple divergence of perspective. Agreement with any of them is not a requirement; and neither is responding.

Frankly, I don’t have a dog in any fight that cares who’s “right.” I tend to think it’s people with whom we disagree the most that we have the most to learn from. Nobody learns anything from “being right” or pearl-clutching an ideology.

Sometimes we teach; other times we learn. Usually both. Maybe it’s simply a lesson in how to disagree well. But only when we seek it out, choose a professional tone, clarify disconnects, and agree to disagree when at an impasse (without contributing to schoolyard tit-for-tat). Nobody is going be capable of this 100% of the time—but it should be the baseline we each strive for. That is how we diffuse. And that is exactly how discussions of relevance emerge from divergent perspectives.

Just MHO. No need to continue beating a dead horse. Cheers.

Don't forget its standard practice to use small amounts of cyan ink when only printing black
Not to mention yellow, for those "security" dots all over the top & left of the page that
show the date/time, the manufacturer of the printer & the serial number of the printer. ;)

Pfff hahaha, you couldn't even deny what I said. This is pure comedy seeing you get this angry after being called out for doing something dumb again :)

Tell us more how others are harming these "innocent" companies and how trump being a pedophile is something you admire.

FYI Morphology is correct. The fine is just a part of what HP is facing. They still need go through the bribery, forgery and criminal conspiracy allegations which are things that indeed break break criminal laws in India (and in the US, but you seem to be advocating here every day for the rich to become immune to said laws). I guess it depends on how much money HP will spend behind the scenes to make all of this go away.

To be fair, having a wide range on opinions doesn't mean we should accept all opinions blindly and say "yeah, sure, write whatever you want". Like that guy who keeps saying that hitler was a leftist... it's so dumb.

The Competition Commission of India deals both with civil and criminal aspects of anti-trust law, based on Competition Act from 2002. Cases are often mixed in nature and for the purpose of this article and discussion it does not really matter. If you wish to claim a high ground on the distinction, here is published verdict, so that you could find relevant information.

All that practically matters is that lawful provisions from the Competition Act were broken and colliding actors were fined. The fact that HP India is involved in the case does not surprise anyone, as they have been involved in several dirty games and have gained a globally negative reputation for not allowing third-party cartridges on most printers. They are remembered for this, especially now when the first open source printer is about to take off on a larger scale.

To see the scale of this proprietary mess with HP printer models and toners, the article below is helpful. For further clarity, I use HP's laser printer every day, so my position is not anti-HP, but against devious and/or unlawful corporate behaviour, which does fall under broader umbrella of anti-consumer behaviour.

LOL, what? When someone claims civil conduct is criminal in nature, the distinction between the two certainly does matter.

here is [sic] published verdict [, so that you could find relevant information.
A verdict which validates my point. There were seventeen defendants in this case, sixteen of which were Indian firms which actually engaged in the misconduct here, and the seventeenth -- the foreign firm with deep pockets. Guess who paid the big fine?

The fact that HP India is involved in the case does not surprise anyone, as they [have] gained a globally negative reputation for not allowing third-party cartridges on most printers.
Oops! You've gone off the rails here with this. HP sells cartridge-locked printers at a loss -- a large benefit for consumers -- in order to recoup profits on consumable sales. I'm not a big fan of this model, but it is still a business model that is valid, legal, and ethical. If you don't saving money up front and paying an even larger sum later -- buy a different printer. It's called the free market.

They are remembered for this, especially now when the first open source printer is about to take off on a larger scale.
If this "open source printer" gains even a 1% market share, I'll eat my shirt with salt and pepper.

And yet here you are, being allowed to spread misinformation (or more precisely disinformation). You are the one telling us that Hitler is a leftist and that the US needs a pedophile president. Seek help dude, you need it.

Tell us more about how you are confidently wrong. Tell us more how we need to protect these large corporations because they did nothing wrong and we are too harsh on them.

Remember when you tried to insult me with Andrew Tate? You didn't even know that you are using a american pedophile as an example that was saved by trump's administration and which is best buds with his sons. These are the type of criminals you are defending and looking excuses for. The people you are turning a blind eye to and even trying to rewrite nazi history for... for some god damn illogical reason I can't comprehend. That's insanity dude.

Germany's National Socialists were Leftist, of course. They began as a far-Left labor movement and they espoused, promoted, and enacted Left-wing ideals: straight from the playbook of the "progressive" Left of today.

and that the US needs a pedophile president.
Here you go infecting your pedophilia fantasies into every thread. In any country other than Romania, the child trafficking capital of the world, such individuals would be continually monitored. In Romania, they're given free license.

You mean the same man that Romania arrested back in 2022, then never moved forward with the case, and eventually allowed him to go free? Given the fascist nature of Romania's current legal system and their fondness for manufacturing cases for political reasons, it's difficult to know if there was any fire to go with this smoke, but the US isn't protecting the Tates: when the UK asked for them to be arrested in Miami, the US instantly did so.

One thing is certain. The vast majority of child traffickers in Romania are allowed to operate freely and without restraint. That den of Eastern-European filth seems impossible to cleanse.

The most surprising part is not that a printer company was accused of manipulating ink prices. It is that people apparently documented the arrangement in WhatsApp chats.

HP arguing that it was commercially forced to support collusion is certainly one way to describe participating in collusion.

HP "participated in collusion" in the same manner the Indian Government did: a cartel of Indian companies formed, and would purchase from HP India and sell to government. Furthermore, the "authorized reseller" designation that HP created -- the Indian members of which ultimately formed a cartel amongst themselves -- was done at the behest of the Indian government, which, according to government's own investigative report, was causing "low quality printing and even damaging printers due to leakage".

Nor was it "HP arguing" that it was forced into this role, but rather the conclusion of the government's own investigative body.

YES, I know that. I've been in the photocopier/printer/fax business for 45 years.
I remember once in the 2000's they caught a person passing off phony money at
truck stops along an interstate highway using the yellow dots.

Like I said, you are insane for claiming that Hitler was a leftists. And the only reason you are doing it is to distance him from what trump is doing with his fascist agenda. THis is what maga always do: DISINFORMATION.

"They began as a far-Left labor movement" - this is something you wrote 100 times and you were proven wrong 100 times. you are taking propaganda points and using that instead of their actions as "proof". this is as dumb as it can get when you have history books. you are trying to rewrite history and this won't fly here. you are not in US soil where you are also trying to rewrite confederate history.

"then never moved forward with the case," - You don't need to yell so hard to tell us that you are completely ignorant on what's happening. The case is moving forward just fine. Just like the case in the UK is also moving forward, it just took time (a lot more time because of trump's, his son's and his pedo friends in his administration).

Here are a few quotes from the man himself:
"I'm very close with the Trump family. I know them well. I spoke to Barron after the incident"
"I look forward to, once I am free, being with Donald Trump in person and reminding him that he's a bulletproof badass."
"I had word from The Trump admin that theyre on top of things, Ive been told ill be free soon but Trump needs to see me in Miami."

These are the people you are defending. These are the pedophiles and rapists you admire so much. You backed yourself in a corner with this Tate commentary. The only thing it did was show that you will defend criminals.

Like I said, you are insane for claiming that Hitler was a leftists. [sic]
History doesn't lie. Germany's National Socialists began as a Leftist labor movement, and their supporters were to the far Left of Germany's political spectrum. The Nazis infamous 25-point proposal reads like a laundry like of the "progressive" Left of today: free college education, expanded rights for workers, the end of "rent slavery" and the "unearned income" of the wealthy, a vastly expanded social safety net, tight control of big business, etc, etc.

You can't change history by closing your eyes and stamping your feet. Nor can you change National Socialism into a "conservative" party with the same whining.

"History doesn't lie." - yeah, but you don't seem to like history. You are refusing to accept all books and all historians. In fact you are also refusing to accept what the nazis did and you are only using nazi propaganda as your arguments. This is what makes you an insane person, and you are doing it just to defend trump, for no other reason.

"The Nazis infamous 25-point proposal " - I already debunked this entire list in minute details, point by point, destroying this dumb argument. How about you educate yourself on what was actually implemented and why the hell Hitler killed people in his own party after he won the elections. Educate yourself on what "Night of the Long Knives" is. You just showed once again that you refuse to accept reality.

From history.com
"The leadership of the Nazi Storm Troopers (SA), whose four million members had helped bring Hitler to power in the early 1930s, was especially targeted. Hitler feared that some of his followers had taken his early “National Socialism” propaganda too seriously and thus might compromise his plan to suppress workers’ rights in exchange for German industry making the country war-ready."

Better yet, before you write something that you took out of your ars again, another dumb disinformation comment, go read Mein Kampf.

If history.com or britannica.com are not enough for you or you think the information there is "fake" then read this from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum:
"The National Socialist German Workers’ Party—also known as the Nazi Party—was the far-right racist and antisemitic political party led by Adolf Hitler. "

In the end, all you are doing with this clear denial of history and attempt at rewriting freaking nazi history is to defend your own fascist leader pedo trump. It's a way for you to point fingers at others using clear disinformation. And you hate that I do not let you do that and that I'm calling you out for this.

Across 100+ posts, I've repeatedly listed dozens of far-Left policies Germany's National Socialists advocated and implemented, as they overthrew the right-wing Weimar Republic to replace it with what their supporters believed would become a socialist utopia. The people cheering Hitler in the streets were Leftists, the party apparatchik were far-Left socialists, and the parties dogma, printed propaganda, and chanted slogans were Left-wing.

As for Hitler himself, he was identical to Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, and all other Leftist zealots ... in the end, he turned out to be far more interested in raw power than he was in the politics he used to gain power.

You listed nazi propaganda points and a bunch of lies. I love how you are trying to contradict everybody including all of the resources I've given you. It's all you can do: LIE and LIE again.

Next thing you'll tell me is that you deny the Holocaust every happening because you seem to disagree with their history and their facts.

Across 100 posts I've debunked everything you've said, including the "25-point proposal" you mentioned again here.

The fact that you fell for freaking nazi propaganda says a lot about you and why you like pedo trump so much.

How the hell does somebody believe nazi election campaign propaganda in 2026? I can't wrap my head around such a concept. It's pure insanity. And the fact that you bring it up so seriously... you will do anything to defend criminals.

You listed nazi propaganda points and a bunch of lies.
The Nazis stated position on issues are a matter of public record:

Powerful central government: Nazis: yes. Today's Left: yes.
Free college education: Nazis: yes. Today's Left: yes.
Expanded social safety net: Nazis: yes. Today's Left: yes.
High taxes on wealthy: Nazis: yes. Today's Left: yes.
Limits to "unearned" invested wealth: Nazis: yes. Today's Left: yes.
Expanded job security for workers: Nazis: yes. Today's Left: yes.
Tight regulation of corporations: Nazis: yes. Today's Left: yes.
Distrust of "big business": Nazis: yes. Today's Left: yes.
Greater access to abortion: Nazis: yes. Today's Left: yes.
Social and political identification by race: Nazis: yes. Today's Left: yes.
Restrictions on free speech: Nazis: yes. Today's Left: yes.

Germany's National Socialists were far, far to the Left of the Weimar Republic they overthrew. It wasn't until their worst atrocities were revealed that embarrassed Leftist historians began rewriting them as "right wing".

The only "yes" that is real is for trump being a pedophile.

All that you wrote is devoid of truth or taken completely out of context and I've proven it multiple times already. Pretending that you didn't lose this argument many times is just a clear sing that you are going insane,

"Powerful central government" - exactly the fascist moves trump is doing, concentrating all power onto him and refusing to accept the separation of power, the constitution and the law.

"Free college education" - for paramilitary schools and some student sponsorships based purely on racial merits. why are you trying to lie about this too?

"Expanded social safety net" - never happened. any welfare was strictly restricted to "Aryans" of "sound genetic health". welfare programs were used to engineer a racially homogenous Volksgemeinschaft --> the exact kind of racial profiling that trump is doing right now. and does that make any social safety net enacted by the GOP as a leftist policy? obviously not.

"High taxes on wealthy" - war preparations and economy. it has nothing to do with being left or right. this kind of argument is dumb at best and you know it. but context is always lost on you intentionally. and in fact it was the poor that suffered the most.

"Limits to "unearned" invested wealth" - one of the 25 points use in the propaganda that didn't happen once the nazis came into power (point 11 to be more precise). Rather than limiting or abolishing invested wealth, the nazi actively encouraged private investment and corporate profits to fuel rearmament.

"Expanded job security for workers" - the biggest BS lie ever. You need to do better than this crap. Immediately after seizing power, the nazi government banned free trade unions on May 2, 1933, replacing them with a single, party-controlled organization (the German Labour Front). All collective bargaining and the right to strike were abolished, and trade union funds were confiscated. They also killed many of the union members.

Read about it here, stop spreading this BS: https://hmd.org.uk/resource/2-may-1933-dissolution-of-german-trade-unions/

"Tight regulation of corporations" - war preparation economy. Again with the dumb arguments that make zero sense. This is simply gaslighting.

"Distrust of "big business"" - the complete opposite happened in reality. Hitler needed the large corporations and their economic power. another lie from you.

"Greater access to abortion" - you meant to write forced abortions for jews and those deemed "unworthy" (this is a known fact), but that's just a "small" detail for you. And in reality the nazy regime ran on a pro-birth program with full BAN on abortion for all "Aryan" women. They even had pedophile schools were young girls were indoctrinated to give birth to "Aryan" kids. I guess this is were pedo trump was inspired from. Fascists think alike.

"Social and political identification by race" - exactly what trump is doing, not the left. The left have an "all are equal" philosophy. Trump is the one doing the racial profiling and racist posts and interviews. It's why neo-nazi and the KKK vote for him and openly support him. Is that why you also voted for him?

"Restrictions on free speech" - lets see what trump has been doing: he targeted universities over student and faculty demonstrations; funding was tied to campus speech, civil right rules and diversity programs (aka he banned everything he didn't like); he barred or restricted media organizations he didn't like; explicitly threatened to challenge or pull the FCC broadcast licenses; executive orders penalizing commercial law firms that represented political opponents or engaged in legal actions against Trump’s policies; threats of legal retribution for publicly criticizing or opposing the administration; actively removed and suspended hundreds of book titles in schools and institutions under federal jurisdiction; enacted federal curriculum mandates; agencies were instructed to avoid words like "transgender," "gender-affirming care," "LGBT," and "pregnant person"; the Department of Energy and the EPA were instructed to limit or omit phrases like "climate crisis," "green," and "climate change" in public reports and internal websites; words and phrases including "DEI," "anti-racism," "diversity," "minorities," and "systemic" were flagged for removal from public-facing websites and federal grant applications (partial list here of banned words: https://pen.org/banned-words-list/) ; flag burning; visa restrictions and deportation threats against researchers; prohibiting federal funding or support for museum exhibits, educational programs, or research projects deemed to promote ideologies inconsistent with specific government-defined values; cancelled grants and funding for academic research centers studying online misinformation and digital manipulation;
And the list goes on and on.

Thank you for allowing me to destroy your uninformed "leftist" nazi arguments again. The fact that you think that nazi expanded abortions or worker rights is just pathetic. And I'm sure you'll copy paste this crap again thinking that nobody will fact check you.

Except he isn't. Obama and Biden both drastically increased the size and scope of the federal government, and added tens of thousands of pages of new federal regulations. Trump is the only president in modern history to actually reduce the size of the federal registry, with acts like this:

As for respecting the Constitution, President Obama still holds the record -- by far -- for most acts judged unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court, more than Reagan, both Bushes, and Trump all combined, including 44 unanimous 9-0 decisions ... even his own appointed justices slapped him down:

the only "yes" that is real is for trump being a pedophile.
Again, the person residing in Romania, the pedophilia capital of the continent, pollutes yet another thread with his fantasies.

"Free college education" - for paramilitary schools and some student sponsorships based purely on racial merits. why are you trying to lie about this too?
You can't change history by denying it. It wasn't limited to "paramilitary schools". From the Nazis original infamous "25 point plan" (proclaimed by Adolph Hitler himself):

Point 2) "The state is to be responsible for a fundamental reconstruction of our whole national education program, to enable every capable and industrious German to obtain higher education ... We demand the education at the expense of the State of gifted children of poor parents without consideration of position or profession...."

"Expanded social safety net" - never happened.
Again, why lie? From the same proclamation:

Point 7) "We demand that the state be charged first with providing the opportunity for a livelihood and way of life for the citizens...."

Point 15)
" We demand an expansion on a large scale of old age welfare."

These are hardly the most liberal points in Hitler's program -- the program for which millions of German liberals voted him into power. Here's a few far-Left nuggets:

Point 7. "We demand that the state be charged first with providing the opportunity for a livelihood and way of life for the citizens."
Point 11. "We demand abolition of unearned (work and labour) incomes. Breaking of rent-slavery [division of assets]..."
Point 13. We demand the nationalization of all associated industries (trusts).
Point 14. We demand a division of profits of all heavy industries.
Point 16. We demand the creation of a healthy middle class and its conservation, immediate
communalization of the great warehouses and their being leased at low cost to small firms
,
Point 17. "We demand a land reform suitable to our needs, provision of a law for the free
expropriation of land [and] prevention of all speculation in land...
."

Socialism, pure and simple.

My favorite is Point 23, which mirrors nearly word-for-word President Biden's attempts to create an Orwellian Disinformation Governance Board, to allow the government to control what could and could not appear in media and social media:

Point 23. "We demand legal opposition to known lies and their promulgation through the press. "

"Restrictions on free speech" - lets see what trump has been doing: he targeted universities over student and faculty demonstrations; funding was tied to campus speech, civil right rules and diversity programs
No. Trump demanded universities follow federal law, which requires equal access to education regardless of race and gender.

"...following the 2023 Supreme Court ruling that struck down race-based affirmative action, the U.S. Department of Education and the Justice Department are investigating over 50 universities for operating race-exclusive fellowships, scholarships, and specialized training programs that bar or exclude white and Asian applicants...."

It takes a real racist to support programs like this. And it takes a true anti-semite to criticize the DOJ investigating those schools who allowed young Jewish students to literally be chased through halls by screaming mobs without taking action:

"...Jewish students on U.S. campuses are facing an unprecedented surge in antisemitic hostility, which has manifested as verbal harassment, physical intimidation, and exclusion. Following highly disruptive protests and unauthorized encampments, data indicates that 41% of Jewish students feel the need to hide their identity. Many students report being targeted, spat on, and excluded from campus groups..."

But then, Leftists have always hated Jews, back to the days of Germany's National Socialism.
