Hello. I have an Inspiron 9300 laptop that started messing up recently. When I boot up, the bottom 3/4 or so of the screen are just a series of vertical lines. The top 1/4 is perfectly fine. Everything works normally, it's just that I can't see anything below the top 1/4 of the LCD. When I hook the laptop up to another display ( I hooked it up to a TV) everything works fine, so I'm assuming it's not a video card issue. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue. I'll probably end up taking it apart and seeing if there's a loose connection between the vid card and the lcd screen. But any tips are appreciated. Thanks.

this sounds like the lcd connector to me. if possible open the laptop so that you can reach the connector on the mainboard. many times its just loose. in a couple of cases it was the video chip. it worked on an external screen but not on the lcd. but the chances are good that it is just the connector
