Internet Explorer Problem

I am working on a friends machine that she said could not get on the internet. I have determined that this is not a connection problem but a problem with the browser. I can get all my updates on line for the antivirus and spyware programs and have already run Adaware, spybot S&D, Avg antivirus and antispyware, scandisk and Defrag. Internet Explorer will not start properly. It starts to come up and then freezes and looks like it is trying to open multiple copies. I have had this problem before on other machine and was able to get rid of it after doing a clean up, this time so far not. any sugestions?

It could be a malware problem, but I'm not sure. Can you post a HJT log as an attachment into this thread (instructions here)?

Have you tried any other browser?

Also, temporarily disable all ActiveX and JAVA to see what happens.
