A new function is coming to in-car infotainment systems that will allow drivers to pay for gas from within their vehicles while at the pumps. The system is the result of a partnership between luxury car brand Jaguar and Shell. It’s available in the UK from today and will expand to other locations across the world over the course of the year.

The “world’s first in-car cashless fuel payment” feature works with new models of Jaguar’s XE, XF, and F-Pace vehicles. You’ll need either a PayPal or Apple Pay account and the Shell app (iPhone only, the Android version is coming later this year), which is linked to the Jag’s infotainment touchscreen via USB.

Once you arrive at a Shell station, it’s a matter of typing in a security pin, selecting which pump you’re at, filling up the vehicle, then confirming the amount on the touchscreen before driving away. You’ll even see a receipt pop up on your car's display and a copy will be sent to your email address.

Jaguar says the system differs from other payment technologies because it uses geolocation alongside PayPal or Apple Pay for transactions.

While most pumps support credit/debit card payments, the feature should make paying for your fuel even quicker and more convenient, especially when it comes to expenses and tax returns.

Jaguar says the tech could be expanded to work with facilities such as drive-through restaurants and parking services. And don’t be surprised to see the system eventually make its way into the infotainment systems of vehicles from other manufacturers.

Companies are very innovative, resourceful and determined when it comes to different ways of receiving payment from one. Not so much when it comes to making payments to them, they seem to be stuck firmly in prehistoric times making one wait for ages for money they know they owe them.

I do not like this huge push to CASHLESS. Once you remove the currency from the system,
the government can EASILY forbid you from spending X number of (insert your currency).
Don't think so? Many nations already limit cash transactions, India? removed cash above
a certain amount. Once the free flow of currency is limited to "cashless", you know good and
well the government can account for every dime you spend. So, walk into a store, try to purchase
a candy bar & "big gulp"? NOPE, according to your last health record, you are "obese", so have a
salad instead. Laugh if you want, but cashless isn't about convenience, it's about CONTROL.
Sad for the youth, but I'm of the age, that unless it happens in the next 15 years, I'll be too old to
really care.

Just want for the number of trolls that park outside your home and steal your account information from your car.....worse yet, forgetting to erase the data in your auto when you trade it in or sell it! BONUS for the buyer!

How is that going to help me when my Jaguar is sitting at the side of the road unable to run because I didn't put in "Jaguar Approved Gasoline". You can see this coming, first they take away all forms of cash, then they chip you to know everything about you all the time brain washing you that this is all for your benefit and the national security of the country bullshit. The real criminals are the bankers who fund both sides of the wars and the politicians who take bribe money and then deny everything. Time to release the free energy technology we have had since the 30s.
