Japan increases punishment for online insults to one year in prison following reality...

Heartless, perhaps, but quite likely true. Hana Kimura was haku, and such individuals have an extremely rough time of it in Japanese society; depression and other emotional problems commonly result.
If you post on any social media platform, you are game. That's why no-one in our family does any of them. PERIOD. And we are much happier for it. (Besides, I don't give a sh*t what anyone says to me or things of me).

I like forums like this though, because "most" of the time it isn't about me me me like narcisistic MeBook (facebook). Every time I see people grab their phones for multiple selfies, I just cringe. Women are terrible about it, but at the gym I see guys do it as well. All about me me me.

I'm not angry, just honest! I love you. :)

This comment is an example of what is wrong with the world. Free speech is a right not a privilege.

We all, as individuals, are accountable for our own actions, including how we react to harsh words expressed by others. If you are angry, offended or hurt by something someone else says to you, YOU have have the problem. Why you ask? Simple:
You are letting someone make you angry.
You are letting someone offend you.
You are letting someone hurt your feelings.

Other people and what they say are NOT the problem, you are. How do you solve this? Choice.
Choose not to let someone else anger you.
Choose not to let someone else offend you.
Choose not to let someone else hurt your feelings.
Choose to view them for what they are, sad little bullies not worth your time.

At the end of the day, it's YOUR life and YOUR choices.
Choose to be stalwart and ignore the fools of life or choose to walk around all the time offended, hurt and angry.
Either way, the choice is yours and no law or government can ever help you with it.
You expect that a kid would have the emotional maturity to deal with that kind of BS right in an age when they are more hormones than logic?

Of course your words are pretty... FOR AN ADULT!, who has dealt with more stuff during life.

Lots of you people are from a different age when you could put an end or a partial stop to that BS by just hanging up the phone... words went away, stupid doodles were that, doodles. But now? Kids are online for assignments, to keep talking with their friends, to play, and guess what? They all have the tools to take a picture, to make you a meme, to harrass you beyond switching off the devices and you guys are "so tough" to advice them on solving their issues by just switching off their devices? FFS.

Lastly, yeah, freedom of speech should be a universal right, but just like that, you should also be accountable when someone decides to cash that check that your mouth wrote.

It's called bad parenting...

Good parents never let their kids sit in front of the TV all day. By the time you get to college you can tell who grew up with parents and who grew up with TV. Good parents are involved with every aspect of their children's lives.

They ONLY reason you say any of what you said about social media and children.. is because of bad parenting.. Who let their children's ego be developed by strangers.

The whole reason for living and working is for your child's development... Selfish people have bad children.

Did you fail to read the article? The law in question was triggered by the suicide of someone not only was an adult, but a reality-star and professional wrestler -- an individual who intentionally thrust themself into the public eye.

Context is a valuable thing. You missed A LOT! Have fun with that.

If you're offended by online insults, maybe you shouldn't be online. For a society that isn't really inline with American leftist soft and fragile ideologies and one who's ancestors were hardcore samurai, Japan sure is becoming soft and snow flaky.
