What just happened? Elon Musk is once again attracting the interest of the US government. On this occasion, President Joe Biden has said that the Twitter owner's relationships with other countries are "worthy of being looked at."

Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, Biden was asked if Musk posed a national security threat and if the help he received from Saudi Arabia to buy Twitter should be investigated—Prince Alwaleed bin Talal and his Kingdom Holding Company represent Twitter's second-largest investor after Musk with a $1.89 billion stake in the company.

"I think that Elon musk's cooperation and/or technical relationships with other countries is worthy of being looked at," Biden said. "Whether or not he is doing anything inappropriate – I'm not suggesting that. I'm suggesting it's worth being looked at, and that's all I'll say."

The president's statement comes only a few weeks after reports that his administration was discussing whether some of Musk's business ventures should be subject to national security reviews, with the Saudi link set for extra scrutiny.

When asked about the reports of a national security review last month, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said they were "not true."

Other politicians are concerned about Musk's dealings with the Saudis. Senators Ron Wyden and Chris Murphy have called for a "thorough vetting" of the Twitter deal. "Given the Saudi regime's history of jailing critics, planting a spy at Twitter, and brutally murdering a Washington Post journalist, the Saudi regime must be blocked from accessing Twitter account information, direct messages and other data that could be used to identify political opponents or to suppress criticism of the royal family," Wyden said.

Musk has been more involved in global politics over the last 12 months, and it's often brought a lot of anger his way. The CEO's SpaceX company has supplied over 25,000 Starlink terminals to Ukraine since Russia invaded, with costs estimated to exceed $100 million by the end of the year. But much of the goodwill he earned was lost when he tweeted a controversial peace plan poll that drew the ire of many, including Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky.

Musk was also forced to deny he had a conversation with Vladimir Putin, who he once offered to fight in single combat, about the prospect of Russia using nuclear weapons in Ukraine. The world's richest man, whose Shanghai Gigafactory produces between 30% - 50% of Tesla's EVs, was also criticized for his suggested solution to the Taiwan/China crisis through a "reasonably palatable" arrangement. It was praised by Beijing but slammed by the island country.

I hate when the state interferes in private transactions. It is none of your businesses, miserable politicians! The size of the state should be minimal or directly zero (my secret dream). Ah yes, Biden is a socialist and likes to interfere. Hateful!

Kind of ironic considering how badly people want his sons "business" dealings looked at in other countries.

His son is not a politician with influence or, as in this Elon case, owns a company that controls and peddles information to billions of people (and engages in manipulating bitcoins to specifically benefit Musk). .

Nice try and thanks for the red herring!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Saudia Arabia a US ally that buys billions of US military tech from us every year including the F-35?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Saudi Arabia just vote with Russia, to roll back oil production by 2 million barrels per day?

A customer is not necessarily a "friend". While the US and the Saudis do have a common enemy, Iran, we are (apparently) not in lockstep with them with other interests.

Both Musk and Trump entertain Arab nations socially, politically, and financially, while Saudi Arabia is playing both sides of the fence..

Comrade, you're just butthurt because Donald Trump isn't around kissing Vladimir Putin's a**.

Mr. Putin's stated and written agenda is to re-form the USSR.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it's full name the, "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics"?.

Now you're crying that "Biden is a socialist". News flash, some Scandinavian countries are deemed "Socialist Democracies", and they're doing just fine, thank you very much. In fact, two of them just joined NATO.

Of course he does. The "big guy" and his son are crooks and even the people who support the demarcate party know it's true. Lets be honest here...his supporters don't care because they are political tribalist. But now Biden thinks Elon needs to be looked at now that he owns Twitter...mmmmk. Overreach much, decrepit Joe? Elon even made comments that they would come for him once he bought Twitter and he was right on the money. So sad, obvious and predictable what's really happening here. IMO you can take Trump and this ***** and dump both of them. Neither imo are worthy of running this country. Damn I'm so over American politics....

Yes it is. In the case of my state, Pennsylvania, we just sent two of Trump's cronies / lackies / clones / "losers", packing. So, I guess everyone in PA is suffering from it.

"Trump Derangement Syndrome", is a narrative that can be interpreted two ways, either for against that piece of sh!t.

And BTW, even Oprah Winfrey who's supposed to be "Dr. Oz's" BFF, endorsed John Fetterman.

Truth. And the fact that he is claiming the FBI has Hunter's laptop is as good as giving it to dementia Joe. Nobody sane trusts the FBI anymore when it come to political bias.
You again. My fantasy is that the DOJ will hand down an indictment on Trump the day he announces his bid for president in 2024.

But you're right about one thing, everybody in the country is lying, and only Donnie boy is telling the truth. Funny how that works, isn't it?

You clearly dont understand the definition of "derangement" if you think that applies to his supporters. That's Trump Enslavement Syndrome. Get it right.

Propping up yet another mentally handicapped politician who cant even string sentences together without an aide is not the win you think it is. Pennsylvania is clown world incarnate.

Whoa, the term, "political tribalists" is much more applicable to Trump loyalists / cultists. Or did we forget that? Better grab a 7 x 10' flag, strap it to the back of your pickup truck, and start driving around Mar a Lago>ZZZZZZZZZZZ

The fact that, "politicians are crooks", is so ingrained in US society, that after 250+ years, it barely raises an eyebrow anymore. So, are we flogging a dead horse much?

My mistake, apologies.

Well, TBH, I don't think Fettermen was the best choice. However, you're forgetting that in the US, we don't vote for anyone, we vote against someone.

However, Josh Shapiro (IMO), will make a very fine governor. Or am I living in clown world too, because of that belief?

You have to look at the vote margins. Fetterman squeaked by a conniving, dog torturing, TV quack, and fake pill salesman. Shapiro blew out Mastriano by double digits.

Well, first off, that photo has been manipulated with Photoshop's stretch / pinch filter.

Second, if you want to start this sh!t, I have an abundance of manipulated or otherwise, stock photos of Trumpty-Dumpty I could put up.

And I have enough to get this thread locked, if that's your wish.

Just say the word, it's your choice.

Don't bother. They got what they voted for. More of the same administration that is systematically ruining things as advertised. I will not reply to posts that refuse to acknowledge the current downfall while continually fixated on TDS.

And I see they are already threatening to get the thread locked. Business as usual for the left.
