In a nutshell: Stalkerware is a category of software that allows a person to spy on another, often by installing the software on the target’s mobile device without their knowledge. Such apps, which often masquerade as parental control apps or anti-theft solutions, can monitor Internet activity, track a user’s whereabouts and record audio and video, among other functions.

Kaspersky recently commissioned a survey to gauge public perception as it relates to privacy – specifically digital stalking – among those in a relationship. The results might surprise you.

Among the more than 21,000 people surveyed across 21 countries who are in a relationship or have been in the past, a staggering 30 percent believe it is alright to monitor their partner’s digital activities. Within this subset, more than half said that doing so was only appropriate in certain situations.

What constitutes an acceptable situation? Survey results show that 64 percent of those who believe it is alright to monitor their partner say they would do so if they believed they were being unfaithful while 63 percent said they would do so if it was related to safety. Half in this group would also spy on their mate if they believed they were involved in criminal activity.

Nearly three in four (74 percent) of those polled say they have never been stalked by means of technology.

How would you react if you found stalkerware on your device? Most (83 percent) of those polled said they would confront their partner if they found a monitoring app installed on their device without their consent, although the report notes that standing up to a partner in this situation might only escalate the risk that a stalkerware victim faces.

I don't believe this survey,
I won't read my kids diary , search my partners phone .
My employees use to ask if I watched the cameras at work from home . No way - I've got a life - never even hooked them up to the internet .

My wife kept going on about the need for net nanny - I told her it was a load a crap. That being open and communicative is better .- that a lot of porn is not reality and not that erotic - that is not too say there isn't good porn
I think there is a quote in the UK about horny teens vs firewalls or something .

Morality has bottomed out in the new millennium.

For instance, there is no such thing as , "an ex-boyfriend", they seem to become a woman's "new stalker"..

Granted there wasn't such a thing as "the internet". But, even if there were, I could never picture myself as doing something as base as putting up "revenge porn". Curdles my blood just thinking about it.

To justify that statement, let's just say I wasn't adverse to taking pictures of girls in the buff. I just never "shared them".

IF you do not have TRUST in your relationship, it will most likely FAIL.
Yes, if your mate cheats on you, 99.99% of the time, you need to END IT.
If you cannot TRUST your mate, why are you with them? "Because I love
them & I can get them to change".
Wish I had a dollar every time I took a 911 domestic call!

Well there's really no need to share them, is there?

Microsoft's Spyware Platform stalkerware shares them for you
It can't if you don't upload them. Besides, this was in the year "40 BS" (Before scanners), in film's heyday.

Which brings up a funny story. I was at the zoo, and it was apparently a few minutes after closing. Then the young zoo volunteer accosted me about not checking my cellphone for the time. So, I held up my old trusty Nikon D-90 and 80-200 2.8f D lens and told her, "I don't have a cellphone, this is all I could afford"

Those were the days - I spent a wonderful 6 months is Southern Africa in the early nineties just visiting game parks - F90 +80-200 2.8AF + N801 ( N8008 USA ) and a FM2 for triggered shots . Velvia , Sensia, Ektachrome, Provia ( maybe that one was later ) - yeah I had a cheap Tamron 400/5.6 . I can afford much better lenses now - but wouldn't swap it - as was super cheap entrance fees/camping - even bookings for private campsites in Parks - carefree days . Further north Serengeti etc more expensive - would of faked study papers - as $50/day or whatever is too much when you want to stay at least 6 weeks in the park. Regrets - in hindsight too short a time in Okavango Delta - it really is a magical place, - did a tour from village guide canoeing in and camping in various spots , plus never saw an aardvark ( nocturnal, shy- if I visited the Karoo more - maybe would of got to see one ) . Shames - saw lots of Black and White rhinos in various parks - that a lot of people can now not enjoy - for hopefully just awhile

My wife had an affair. We had a "discussion" about it and I took action. Never laid a hand on her.
Moved far away from the area and pledged to start fresh. Two years later she did it again. Game Over. I divorced the b****.
