KFC's Beyond Meat fried chicken sells out within 5 hours

Biotech: KFC partnered with Beyond Meat to test drive its plant-based 'chicken' at the fast food chain's outlet in Atlanta, Georgia. Reportedly, a lot of people showed up to try the meatless offering as KFC says it sold out its entire supply within five hours and that the quantity of Beyond Fried Chicken sold was equal to that of traditional popcorn chicken that the branch sells in an entire week.

Plant-based meat products seem to have a rather strong demand, something that recently pushed Burger King to launch its Impossible Whopper nationwide and yesterday saw people queuing up at 8AM at KFC's Atlanta branch in Georgia to try out the latest plant-based Beyond Fried Chicken.

Colonel Sander's KFC joins Carl's Jr. among the latest fast food chains to try Beyond Meat products in their menu, this time with meatless chicken nuggets instead of beef burger patties.

With a seemingly great first trial, which KFC will now analyse for a better understanding of the demand of plant-based meat (hint: it's a lot), the partnership between it and Beyond Meat could eventually mean a nationwide roll out to compete with other restaurant chains and their plant-based alternatives like Impossible Foods.

Meatless products have the potential to attract vegan customers and those looking to cut down meat from their diet. With Beyond Meat's products on the menu, KFC can look towards capitalizing on that potential.

Do they sell out because they taste nicer than chlorinated corn fed chicken and Mcds Hormone filled meat paste burgers???
 
Great marketing by these people with the fake meat stuff.
Give EACH store a small limited quantity, build up the "hype", get lines of people wanting it because
everyone else is doing it (sheeple), then sell out because you didn't have enough in the first place
and claim that it was a huge success that we sold out!
Just doing what a lot of companies like Apple do...limit the quantity at the outset, and show how
popular it is because you didn't have the supply, to meet the demand, but, you limited the supply in
the first place.

I'm no vegetarian, but I don't see any problem to get that as an option for people that either are vegetarian or like the taste/texture of the "meat"

There is no need to have an "Us vs them" mentality when that option exists next to the traditional and also has the added benefit of being less nocive to the environment.

#1 I'm fairly certain that most restaurants famous for their meat products, stock smaller amounts of non-meat products.

#2 Social Media causes flash mobs at these venues. There is no way they can anticipate demand on a new product. Keep in mind: the market is always forward-looking.

Now that they see that these products are popular, they have to hope that the demand continues because if they ramp up production and increase supply, but the demand, over time, shrinks, they'll lose a large amount of money. They won't produce as much next time. This is what we call a "market correction".
 
This was nothing more than a huge "I'll try it" crowd not to be confused with a crowd of people who loved it so much they bought some.

Typical Intel's "shortages" of cpus :) I still remember when I was making my Ryzen 2600 build - the only alternative I could get from Intel for the same price was i3-8100.. Even i5-8400 was costing much more due to "shortages".
 
I had the Impossible Whopper with Cheese, it was pretty damn good. Bring on the shicken. idk why people are so scared of lab grown veggies. Pesticide, herbicide, anti biotic, bleached, steroid, growth hormone and forced to cannibalize meat\crop products are so much better? Reminds me of the tiki torch guy.

I'm certainly no vegan as bacon is king along with a zinger tower but by word there's some tasty vegan meals.
 
Just curious how you found that out.

Researching the posted nutritional value charts. You know: the ones that tell calories, fat, sodium and everything else.

Sodium itself tends to be the lesser evil when compared to the oils/fats and cholesterol that are typically associated with fried foods, perhaps people would still stand to benefit from plant based alternatives. At least there is no doubt that there would be a positive environmental impact from reduced meat production!

I bought a CPu just before the shortages sharted to happen. It was a 9600k for 260. Now long time after, it is still around 220 if Im correct. No regrets. I had money and I spent it. I built a PC for my brother in law on 2400g though. Great budget CPU with awesome game able graphics...

Well, I got my 2600 for around 150. Today, if I'm not mistaking, it's still around 150. So no regrets as well.
 
I tried the Impossible Whopper, and it does not taste like meat. I particularly noted that the onions on the sandwich do not get complimented in taste the way that meat and onions compliment each other, but instead the onions were just onions with other vegetables, and thus the onions were too strong for the sandwich. I doubt that those who like meat will find it to be a good substitute. I also suspect that the high initial sales of these kinds of foods will drop dramatically after everyone satisfies their curiosity. KFC's offering is something that I will try, and I hope that it tastes good, but I don't really expect it to taste like chicken.
