recently bought a lightscribe drive (samsung SH-S202N) an for some reason its only bein recognised as a normal DVD-RW drive. the lightscribe control panel says no lightscribe drives found. is there any reason why it wouldnt work except bein faulty?

its ATA E-IDE. an yeh it is supposed to be a normal drive but the lightscribe control panel should recognise it, ill quickly try settin it to cable select and on its own cos ive got it set as CS but with another drive as slave at mo (both are on CS)

EDIT: That didnt work, disconnected the other dvd drive an had Ls drive to CS but still wont detect it. could it be summat to do with the mobo?

Not if the original (or other) drive works ok

ok try Master (on that little jumper)

So it shows in My Computer and runs discs though, doesn't it?

lightscribe control panel says no lightscribe drives found
If that's the only fault, I wouldn't worry about it
Have you put a movie DVD in to see if it starts?

well aint tried burnin any discs but it reads fine. ive had dvds in it but not burnt anything at all in it yet. think ive already tried it as a standalone master tho
