LinkedIn today reached a major milestone: 100 million professionals worldwide. The social network is now growing at roughly 1 million new LinkedIn members every week, which is faster than one member joining the site every second.

To celebrate, Scott Nicholson and Anita Lillie, two members of LinkedIn's data sciences team, have visualized how far the site has come come in terms of user growth and user engagement by putting together some key statistics in an infographic. The company also took the opportunity to underline that it is rapidly growing its network globally. The website is currently in over 200 countries and territories around the world, with more than half of its users living outside of the US.

"So, what does all this growth really mean? We're making great progress toward our ultimate goal: to connect all of the world's professionals to make them more productive and successful. We want to thank all of you, our 100 million members, for making this happen," a LinkedIn spokesperson said in a statement. "Your experiences, connections, and shared knowledge are what make LinkedIn so powerful to each and every one of us. Best of all, we're just getting started. Here's to the next 100 million members."
