Linksys router takes time to reconnect after re-login into system

Hi,

I've Windows Vista OS on laptop, i noticed that when i lock my system and log-in back my wireless router takes some time to connect (around 5-10mins)

When i tried to see -- Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center

Its says "Unidentified network"

Please let me know if you guys needs any additional information!

Please help me to resolve this issue - Thanks in advance

Make Sure VISTA is properly setup for it.

IF it stays on when it comes on, you are probably OK, and it may be the internet provider that is dicking with you. I would talk to them first.

For the most part, you need someone who is tech savvy.. we cannot help much here without testing.

When you LOCK the system and re-logon, the system initiates a RENEW cycle between
your PC and the router.
The router is still connected to your ISP even while you are not present (unless you have DSL and have configured it to drop the connection).

You can test how your system reacts to renew with this sequence while logged on as an admin:
get a command prompt and enter:
  • ipconfig /all
  • ipconfig /release
  • ipconfig /renew
  • ipconfig /all
(a) & (d) will document the before and after
(b) will disconnect your system from the router
(c) SHOULD cause the pc to reconnect which is proven with (d)

If (d) does not look like (a), then you need to look for both an update to your router firmware and a newer driver for you network adapter.
