Hi all,

i just brought a new HHD with 250Gb and trying to install on my XP, it works
and show 232Gb in the Computer Management. however, when i use
Error-checking in the xp, it will reduce back to 125Gb. just need to know
why and what is the solution? my config is listed below:

montherboard: P4B266
RAM: 512Mb
CPU: 1.61Gb

in addition, when i use properties for the drive, i see 107GB is in use and
125 Gb is free. i have nothing in the disk yet and how can i get it back. is
that my system doesn't support the large disk. i had a 160Gb HHD and it
worked fine until it broke down. is there a way to prevent this happen.

now i use schkdsk in the dos mode and it shows the 107Gb is in bad sector. this is a brand new HHD and don't know why? is that not comptitable with my system?

Click Start, Run and type CMD then press enter. Type chkdsk /f
Restart the computer and hopefully that fixes any bad sectors or errors on the drive. Don't forget the space between chkdsk and the /

just found out that only SP1 or above will support large HHD over 128gb.
now i am working on testing the hard disk and looks great.

thanks everyone.
