M.2 move from M/B to Pcie Adapter

Hi,
I have an m.2 NVME drive installed on my Gigabyte Z97 motherboard but it only runs at x 2 speed can I move it to pcie adapter x 4, and will I have to re install windows.

Your motherboard probably don't support boot from PCIe devices, so in that case you cannot boot Windows directly from that disk.
