i always been a console guy, but now i wan to enter the Pc realm of gaming :). i am asking help in making the medium to top range gaming machine.

if you have any site that enable me to buy customized pc, or the best combination in your opinion of a good gaming machine please tell, cause i have no clue :p

thanks for any help.

1. Post your budget and location.
2. State whether or not you'd need to buy other parts such as a monitor, keyboard and mouse.
3. Tell us whether or not you'd be willing and able to buy online.

Only then can we help you properly.

my location is the UK, i can buy online aswell. My budget hmmm around £600.
i dont need any mouse, monitor of keboard :).

thanks

Try this list of parts:

Grand Total = £556.31. You can order the RAM and motherboard from Novatech in OEM boxes, which will help save some money. If you've saved enough, you can go with an HD 4870 instead of the HD 4850 for increased performance, although if your monitor supports all resolutions upto 1600x1200, the HD 4850 will be sufficient.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. :)

purchasing problem :p

i am having problems finding the OEM hardware on novatech, for the ram and motherboard, i need some bargins :)

we are basically dicussing if it is worth upgrade or to buy a new rig for gaming. lol

Hehe, you're on. Check this out:
Grand Total = £359.39 including VAT but not shipping. Throw in any DVD drive of your choice and you've got a superb machine that will be far faster than the one you linked to, for only a little more dosh. Also, the parts in this one are far superior to the generic ones that are most likely used in that PC.

As for your question, the most important component in a gaming machine is the video card. Then comes the RAM and last, but not the least, the CPU.

oooooh

all this time i thought it was the cpu, that was the most important. thank you, i'll make my order's now lol

processor?

is the intel core quad worth getting over the one you have specified? making orders now

It is a better CPU by all means, but instead of getting it, I'd recommend the E8400 instead which can be had for the same price.

erm

Sorry for all the question Rage, so when it comes to picking processors its about clock speed?

Not only clock speeds, but also the L2 cache. The E8400 has 3MB of cache memory per core, compared to 1MB per core for the E5200 and 2MB per core for the Q6600. Games are very sensitive to increases in cache memory, so for gaming, the E8400 is easily the superior choice compared to the Q6600, with the increased frequency being an added bonus of sorts.

The E8400 is also a 45nm part, as is the E5200, while the Q6600 is 65nm. A smaller die means that the chip dissipates less heat, consumes less power and is easier to OC. The E8400 is a champion OCer that can be happily OC'd to 3.5GHz or so without changing the stock voltage or HSF. With proper cooling, it can reach and surpass 4GHz.

The Q6600 needs an aftermarket HSF just to reach 3GHz and I have yet to see one reach 4GHz on air cooling, mainly due to it being a 65nm part and due to it having two extra cores compared to the E8400, which add to the heat output.

So you see, a lot needs to be taken into account when considering a CPU for any build.

video card

what do you think of the Nvidia GeForce 7950 GX2 Extreme Video card with 1 GB DDR 3 RAM and DUAL DVI is it worth it for £250 or is better to get another card?
