I am using xp. is there a way to make a program's window open at a certain place
on the desktop everytime it opens? i have a small program that has a window
approx. 2.5x6 inches in size. i would like for it to position itself in the lower right
spot on my desk top each time it is opened . is this possible?

thanks very much,

Open any folder
Tools-->Folder options-->View tab
Tick: "remember each folders view settings"

Windows remembers the program position and will open that program in the position of the last used state.
You can confirm this by opening Notepad, then moving the restored (windowed) notepad program (by holding onto the toolbar) to another position on the screen.
Then close and re-open Notepad, to confirm it has moved.

These positions are stored in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags
and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags

Some programs have the position already stated (ie in an ini file or setting) which can be adjusted there
