Inactive Malware Bytes has stopped working

I am inundated with adware and purchased Malware Premium thinking it would help.
So far I cannot get it to scan.
It freezes and "Stops working" as it Looks for Updates.
I did a clean install, rebooted, disabled Symantec Protection, and installed.
Same problem. I am so frustrated. Have reached out to them, but have not heard back.
Am running Windows 7 if that helps.
Any suggestions? Thanks,

Please, observe following rules:
  • Read all of my instructions very carefully. Your mistakes during cleaning process may have very serious consequences, like unbootable computer.

1. Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove (Programs & Features) programs in the control panel.
2. Restart your computer (very important).
3. Download and run this utility.
4. It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).
5. After the computer restarts, install the latest version from here.
