Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg took the stand as scheduled on Tuesday in a Dallas courtroom to defend Oculus VR, a company Facebook acquired in March 2014, against claims that it stole crucial virtual reality technology from ZeniMax Media Inc.

The New York Times’ Mike Isaac, who was on hand in the courtroom when Zuckerberg gave his testimony, notes that the Facebook boss said it is pretty common when announcing a big deal that all kinds of people come out of the woodwork claiming to own some portion of the deal. Zuckerberg added that, like most people in the court, he’d never even heard of ZeniMax before.

ZeniMax, as you may know, is the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, id Software and a handful of other gaming studios.

A lawyer for ZeniMax reportedly spent time grilling Zuckerberg in an effort to bolster the company’s argument that Facebook rushed its acquisition of Oculus VR, potentially overlooking the dispute between ZeniMax and Oculus.

Zuckerberg, making a rare appearance in a suit versus his standard jeans and t-shirt / hoodie attire, said the idea that Oculus products are based on someone else’s technology is just wrong.

Interestingly enough, Zuckerberg also spent plenty of time talking about his vision of virtual reality, conceding that he doesn't believe “good” virtual reality has arrived. It’s going to take another five to 10 years to get to where everyone wants to go with VR, he said.

The trial is expected to last around three weeks and will feature testimony from Oculus founder Palmer Luckey, legendary gaming developer John Carmack and Brendan Iribe, the current head of Oculus’ PC group.

Just give him his own 8x8 jail cell already, god. He's already half-way towards wearing what'll likely be his prison uniform.

Actually, throw Hillary in there too and make it a 4x4, so they can snuggle real close.

First, this article has nothing to do with Hillary. Second, She has been investigated multiple times and she has never even been sent to trail. At best you are stating your opinion, an opinion that is backed by zero facts. But really, who cares about Hillary at this point? She lost and there is a far greater issue in the form of Trump.

She's still corrupt as well. No trial is needed to prove that lol, just two sets of eyes and a brain. There's also no proof the Russians hacked the US election, but that's still peddled, so what's the difference? There's also no proof regarding america being the greatest country in the world, but few object. It's fine, no worries. Didn't you hear? It's a post-factual world now bae!

Trump will be amazing :D. Hahahaha.

Your comment boils down to "My unsubstantiated observations are correct while the people's opinions I don't agree with aren't correct, even though they are backed up by multiple arms of the government."

"It's a post-factual world now bae!"

Apparently that's the world you live in. I guess that's what you get for getting your news on facebook from a guy in his underwear from denmark.

Once again though, your comment doesn't stay on topic. No one mentioned Russia either.

It's not even a criminal case, is a civil one. ZeniMax just wants a payday, Zuckerberg isn't at risk of going to jail over this.

The most likely cause of ever going to trail are very remote simply because the colour of justice is green, everywhere, and she has plenty of that.

Should be interesting to see where this goes... part of me thinks they are just butt hurt they didn't act on the ideas first. Instead of wasting money and time on revenge why don't they just make a better product? The Oculus has plenty of shortcomings that allows for another superior product to take the relatively small market share it does have. People get so hell-bent on trying to get revenge rather than taking advantage of a situation and making something better from it.

Zuckerberg said that the government had done a ‘bad job’ balancing people’s privacy.

Then Mr. Zuckerberg, why are you always telling everyone else what they can and can't post of Facebook? Just because you have money do you think you can control everything that people want to express? What happened to the land of the free? Who is in your back pocket? Whose puppet are you?
