I own a sony vaio vgn-nrs31z/s running windows vista home premium. The dvd drive was working properly during the first few weeks since I owned the laptop. After a while it slowly started performing poorly. At first it couldn't write an audio cd properly and after a while it couldn't read most of the dvds. I tried unistalling drivers and rebooting. System restored the drivers but it didn't work. I ran microsoft fix it center, didn't do the trick either. Are there any suggestions. I 'd appreciate any help.
Thanx in advance

Are you saying you've only owned and used the drive a few weeks?

Exactly! The laptop was brand new and within a few weeks the dvd drive was almost useless! I 'll try that! Thanx for the response.

Sounds like you may have just gotten a bad drive. Best to get it fixed/swap the drive for a new one under your warranty
