Meat-free Impossible Burger is safe to eat, FDA declares

I hate seeing that daft vegan myth trotted out for this sort of thing. A lot of livestock eats grass that we can't. Grass that is watered by rain that would otherwise simply flow down the rivers and into the sea, and often grows in places that are not suitable for any other form of farming.

The truth is that if we all went vegan there simply wouldn't be enough arable land to produce the food we'd need.

the truth is that the main cattle feed is soy and other simple crops, not grass. only cartoon cows eat grass. so all of the deforestation and water used to grow that soy is wasted on feeding the cattle, when you could just feed that soy to people. and if you did that, you could eliminate world hunger, because theres so much fricken soy being grown for just feeding livestock. look it up. youre saving thousands of gallons of water a day by not eating meat

Whatever. Sounds like soy is becoming the new high fructose corn syrup. They produce tons of it for cheap, then make new foods with it or stuff it into existing foods as a cheap filler. Ok, so soy isn't man-made crap like HFCS, but soy isn't as healthy as they claim it is. There's numerous reports citing it's ability to cause unnaturally higher estrogen levels in men. What's been under-reported is that many men in America, and other developed countries, have been suffering from a steep & unnatural decline in their normal testosterone levels for many years due to food additives and crappy eating habits. More soy consumption is only going to worsen this issue.

FDA approved it. Wow, then it MUST be safe. It contains what? Soy? You mean GMO soy? The thing that causes "spontaneous" abortions in women? Yeah, it's safe. Same as Ukrainian potatoes from Chernobyl.

It actually IS UNNATURAL. Almost all soy is nowadays GMO, and those modifications most likely include even higher levels of estrogen than natural soy. As a result it causes "spontaneous" abortions, but even if the child is born, and it's male, it might be feminized. Wondering why so many men nowadays have tits?

Wow, lots of comments, but not many people who have had it. I've had it, it tastes fine. I probably wouldn't go far out of my way to get it again, since it's only in limited locations, but when it shows up at more places, I'd probably get it again.

Have you had one??
Actually yes - had one last year on vacation.... my wife can't stand beef and we were at White Castle - so we each had one (mine was under protest, but if you want to remain married, you make small sacrifices!)... we BOTH agreed they tasted "meh" - not nearly as good as a real burger (my wife prefers chicken burgers).

Pretty much any time someone advertises something as "tastes just like the original" --> EAT THE ORIGINAL!!

If you must have something healthier, eat something else.... That goes for "diet drinks" (Coke did NOT "nail it"), soy burgers, artificial sweeteners, etc.

Please never go into any science related field. With that much bias against it before you had it, of course you wouldn't like it. Also... you're judging it based on what you got from White Castle.

Really? What bias? And of course I’m judging it based on what I got from White Castle - that’s where they are sold!

You post that no one has any idea what it tastes like and imply that no one who hasn’t tasted one has a right to post here....yet, you single me out, as I’m the only one who has had one and posted, as biased, and my opinion isn’t valid. Yours must be the only valid opinion, since it tasted “fine” to you.

I suggest YOU not enter any science field as you seem to think that some people’s opinions count more than others...
