I'm of the opinion that is something you shouldn't find surprising.Nah, I have win7 on my machine for some 2 years with NO updates and I haven't had one problem.
The problem is the base design of the OS was not good in the first place. One reason why version after version has a continuous "security patch" update mode (what I mean is MS sends out update patches after update patches to fix security holes with every new version of Windows). To repeat the old adage, you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.I'm use my XP desktop daily and run the occasional thorough anti malware scan. There are no issues so far but I would never consider using the machine for anything serious like internet banking or purchases. I don't even check emails with it. If I was unable to progress from W7 I'd make sure that I had a computer running Windows 10 fully updated for any risky computing tasks. Microsoft do try to keep our systems secure but it needs user cooperation too.
How do you know for sure no root kits have turned your PC into a bot that most anti malware cannot detect? All it takes is an "injection" from an email in your inbox that you don't even have to open, or a link planted on a web page of an otherwise legitimate web site which likewise you do not even need to click on (to illustrate some of the more pernicious attacks).Nah, I have win7 on my machine for some 2 years with NO updates and I haven't had one problem.
Just use Linux...please...if you aren't installing updates keep that crap off of the internet.I have win7 on one of my computers and like it very much. I installed it after hating win8.
However, I turned off all updates to win7 and use it as is. Although there are those who say that it is dangerous, I do not find any danger problems with it. I don't browse in questionable sites nor will I open questionable email attachments. I have an anti-virus to keep my computers clean.
I really don't see the great advantage in updates and I am certain that others will disagree but I am very happy with win7 with out any updates.
Take the tin foil off your head. Better yet just never mind someone Else's business.Just use Linux...please...if you aren't installing updates keep that crap off of the internet.
Can you cite any legitimate research showing that security patches and updates do nothing to improve the overall functionality and security of Windows? If you don't install updates, what steps do you take to evaluate the security of your systems? It seems like you're responding to the tone of my comment more than the content...And even if you are "fine" without updates, is that your general recommendation?Take the tin foil off your head. Better yet just never mind someone Else's business.
Yeah that is true, however I do believe updates are necessary but not an absolute must. It's not the OS or version needing to be pushed off the Internet, it's the problematic user.It seems like you're responding to the tone of my comment more than the content..
