Ran the scripts to remove the telemetry updates and turned off Windows update for Win7. It's a sad day when I have more trust in the hackers of the world than I do in the developer of my primary OS.

With many more than a million users of Microsoft 7, microsoft should have to keep supporting Windows 7. We as a group should push this as a law pertaining to software companies so that they can not just move forward when the public finds a previous version better. The push of Windows 10 by Microsoft shows that there is much more riding on Microsoft destroying Windows 7, and having the public using Windows 10. Microsoft trying to give away Windows 10 for free, when this did not work Microsoft hired installed apps that slowed down Windows 7 and when this did not work, Microsoft used hackers to put out slow downs apps that cause crashes and slowdowns for Windows 7 shows that the elite are demanding that Microsoft put the Controller-Windows 10 out so that measures can be taken to control the stupid masses, stay away from Windows 10 if you plan on having any privacy at all. Windows 10 is the new world order control mechanism which will be used to decide who is to be killed and those who are zombies and not a worry for the emerging establishment, for these monitored slaves a determination will be made to place citizens in FEMA detention camps which will become death camps. You know that when a company pushes a product as Microsoft has done Windows 10, there are mechanisms in the program that the controlling elite can use to control and monitor you and if you use a word that they have on their spider list that monitors all communications and they find an indication that you are against their plans, they will have you killed. Realize that Microsoft is the enemy and all citizens should resist and either abandon Microsoft completely or stay with Windows 7 and eventually abandon Microsoft completely.

The company that told you that they will. I`m sticking with my reliable Win 8.1 X64 until 2023, miracle needs to happen for me to try Win 10 again.

Windows 7 is already new XP, it has almost 50% of market even after two major updates with Windows 8 and 10. I remember that people loved Windows 7 right from the start, it worked better than Vista and new and powerful computers simply required better platform than 8 year old XP. We`ll see at the end of the year, but its quite possible that for Microsoft it will be a lot harder to get rid of Windows 7 than it was of XP.

You really should switch to linux I agree. If you have a business you will save loads of money as microsoft have ridiculously high prices and when you need to upgrade it won't cost you anything. It will be faster, more secure and you can customize it more freely to suit your needs.

they don't want people holding onto 7, because they won't get any revenue. You know their push for
10, was just a way to bring the "illegal" versions up to snuff, so they can then start a subscription
based model. They've as much admitted that, of course "just for business users"...which will be their
"beta", and once done, they will go with a subscription based version of windows to "enhance your user
experience" of course. That, and FORCED ads.

I challenge you to manage W10 firewall like you can manage W7! (and internal phone home controls)
In the right hands W7 is far superior than W10 will ever be.

There's not going to be a Windows 12, or 11. Windows 10 is the last version, and like OS X they will be updating it forever from now on. They've switched to "Windows as a service" instead of doing new releases. They recently announced that Windows 10 is getting an entire new UI in the future for example called Composable Shell.

Nothing wrong with using product you like and the product that will be supported until then. I have my own reasons to doubt that Microsoft is able to fix a mess that Windows 10 is. Its beta product at its best, untested, restrictive, people didnt want it even for free and that tells you something. Microsoft already lost this battle, its Vista all over again.

Windows 10: "Microsoft's NSA device". Worse, seems most updates break it & driver issues are a nightmare.
My advice: Stick w/Windows 7 until it is no longer viable-- NOT the BS, "no more MS updates/not-viable", but rather "no browsers or AV support it". After that (say 2025), revisit the train-wreck of MS & see if you can stomach it.
Better yet, Linux.

Linux keeps looking better and better. Still not quite a replacement for windows but can proficiently complete most home user needs. Web browsing, email, play music and videos. Even steam works and has quite a few Linux gaming options. At the rate Microsoft keeps making users angry we may see this trend grow over the next few years.

Not sure what you find "not a replacement"? Especially w/Virtualbox?
As a desktop OS in a business/production environment it would not be a suitable replacement for windows. Where I work linux is not compatible with much of the software required. With Virtualbox I'm assuming that you're implying the use of a windows VM? If so then you haven't replaced windows if you're still using it. When I say replacement I mean removing windows all together from the equation.

Thanks for the heads-up, MS! You just ensured that I'll be flogging Windows 7 until ~January 13, 2020. Maybe there will be a new OS option by then that doesn't suck.

The same company that has most of the market *because* of their support of their ecosystem for the last 20 years.
After three months using Win10 on four machines we have now returned all machines to Win7. Win10 is a lemon.

The reason is they want to spy on you and your business and make some extra $$. updating a business machine when windows 7 is good till 2020 lol yea right. why break something that has worked for years and is good for at least 3 more and probably 5 past that with nill in troubles.
