Windows 10 is essentially dead. Every single software and driver developer has focus on Windows 11 and had for years now. This is where optimization work happens.
Steam HW Survey: 70% Windows 11 marketshare now. Windows 10 drops every time they update the numbers.
Total Windows marketshare on Steam: 94%
MacOS and Linux (10+ distros) fights over the remaining 6%
Reality calls.
Heh. You keep right on waving that flag, sonny. No-one's listening, but you'll carry on regardless, won't ya?
A real "poster-boy" for the Tech Bros. Lolol!
Can't knock sense into stupid, I suppose. Guess I'm lucky, 'cos for my entire working life I never did any work that flat-out required computers to do ANYTHING.....and for me, they've only ever been a hobby.
I future-proofed my hardware during the early years of COVID, and for what I use it for, both it and Linux will last me for a LONG time to come.

"Can't"????? That's EXACTLY what they DO expect. They need to allow updates for at least another few years, MS can't expect everyone to purchase new computers just like that. We aren't all bill gates with huge pockets to throw away.
Neither will the annual "feature" updates install on unqualified machines that "tricked" Windows 11 installations have been done. The feature updates look for the TPM2 chip. You can get Windows 11 to install on older PCs but certain software will not run. Some games wont run and some software will not run unless you have Windows 11. Dont have to like it but it is what it is. MS will always win in the end whether people like it or not. MS can just keep doing what they are doing by extending but at some point, people will just switch. Its happened before and will happen again.
I find it hilarious reading this in 2026. People really have a memory of a goldfish.Windows 10 and the fact that it never forced you to update it was the last good Windows OS.
In what way?Windows 10 is much more stable than 11.
No they dont. The feature update disqualification for "unofficial" installs is just a soft lock that can easily be overcome with a script.Neither will the annual "feature" updates install on unqualified machines that "tricked" Windows 11 installations have been done. In the way of using the contextual menus to get to applications. Windows 10's menus were easier for me to use, especially windows explorer. I have more problems in W11 getting windows explorer hung up. I really think, however, since the days of xp, the widows operating system has changed very little as far as the basic components that make the system work such as device manager, control panel, computer managemen, etc., especially the registry and terminal, or power shell or command prompt or whatever they call it now. This has all changed very little. It's just the menu's to get to your applications and diagnostics they keep changing around and things like the hardware requirements for upgrades so that when they no longer support an old os so you have to buy their new hardware. Windows 11 isn't really much different at all from W10 nor any of the previous versions since zp like I said. They just change the cosmetic appearance and menu system and when they make a hardware requirement to prevent upgrades, you have to buy new stuff from them. All of the os changes are made so that when they no longer support the old os like on the internet, you have to buy new stuff from them.I find it hilarious reading this in 2026. Has everyone forgotten the backlash Win10 got for forcibly upgrading Win7 and Win8 computers? dark patterns in the upgrade prompt? forced updates? Ads in start menu? Hello?
Now people talk like Win10 was great. It wasn't. It was the same or worse than Win11.
It seems Win11 receives the Vista treatment. People have decided that they dont like it so no amount of rational arguments are gonna change their mind.
In what way?
Er.....'scuse me? Who mentioned anything about games? What IS this assumption that "gaming" is the sole reason for people to own a computer in the first place? You futureproofed your hardware, hahahahahaha. Sure you did. Garbage system for sure. Your demands are low, that is why you are satisfied.
Windows has 95% Steam marketshare, so you can ramble all you want, I just laugh. Linux is niche for gaming and no serious gamers bother. MacOS have the same marketshare as Linux on Steam. Both are mostly crap for gaming.
Linux gaming is for casuals. Casuals that mostly player old single player games and think 30 fps is smooth as butter. Pure garbage for people who use high-end hardware.
You sound mad, hahaha. Calm down. Be happy. Like me.Er.....'scuse me? Who mentioned anything about games? What IS this assumption that "gaming" is the sole reason for people to own a computer in the first place?
YOU brought that up, not me. I don't even play games.....I have better things to do with my time, AND what money I have.
Some of us actually have a life. Ever heard of those? Do you even know what one is? And can you see BEYOND your bank balance, hmm?
Unbelievable.![]()
Nah, mate. I'm retired. Have been for years.....and comfortably well off with it. Glad to be out of the rat-race......and with a ton of "sensible" stuff to keep me occupied. You sound mad, hahaha. Calm down. Be happy. Like me.
Ah, so you have a life? A life that is about work only? Low pay work - What a life!
I have a life thank you, a life vastly better than yoursGirl, family, kids and enough money to not even have to work, as I predicted the crypto and AI boom. Millions were made. Hence why I have time to play games and enjoy time instead of having to work.

You DO make a lot of "assumptions" about other people.....and you're not very good at it. Take my advice & give it up as a bad job, yeah?
Really? You don't even know me.....so where does that statement come from? See, there's those "assumptions" kicking-in.
You also seem to be of the opinion that money is the "be-all" & the "end-all" to everything.....hmm?
There you go again. You appear to feel the need to constantly have to justify yourself.....and your greatest pleasure seems to come from always shouting others down. Sounds like a very shallow existence.
Nah, you won't win with that argument, my friend, buttt.....each to their own, I guess. Horses for courses, you could say.
