Last week we published a story about a leaked Kinect 2 image that found its way to Twitter. Now that same Twitter user, superDaE, has posted and subsequently sold what he claims is a Microsoft Xbox Durango development kit on eBay for just north of $20,000. The dev kit received 43 bids with six days to go before the status was changed to “sold.”

SuperDaE was extremely vague in the eBay listing, only noting that the used condition item has an Intel processor(s) and ships with all power cables and a wired controller. The photo shows that of an ordinary-looking mid-tower PC with no noticeable indication of what’s inside or its intended purpose.

The seller defended the auction on Twitter, pointing out that it wasn’t an empty case and that it was indeed a legitimate item; one of two in his possession. In a separate message, superDaE says he only expects people who know what it is to buy it. Otherwise there would be no reason to even place a bid.

He plans to use the money from the auction towards a new car and reportedly had to verify his account with eBay following the sale. VR-Zone is in the process of tracking down the buyer and with any luck, they’ll be willing to share their $20K investment with the rest of the world.

That is, of course, if the whole thing is even legit. It's very possible this could be a scammer's attempt at making a quick $20,000.

what a twit, backstabs a company, was it even his to sell? he should be sued or arrested.

But besides that, when can we expect those new 720 specs leak?

Capitalism is a form of economic warfare. You either accept it, or you don't understand it. This does not make him a twit by backstabbing anyone. Backstabbing is a legitimate tactic in all forms of warfare.

He's selling the other one Item# 221102727339
It's at $630 after 7 bids.
Either way, scam or legit. this guy is in a whole lot of trouble.

Now he's selling the other one?!! I thought they would have taken them away after his twtter leaks, it's ilegal. Is microsoft going to do something?

And he shouldn't do that to a company he is hired from, when he gets caught he'll have to find a new career, he'll be blacklisted. There are privacy laws. Even if someone does have leaks should go undercover, not a public sale, how bold, he's gonna get it. Microsoft might be buying them back and theyll get that twit. And isn't the co he works for held acountable?

(But I hope we get spec leaks after this at least., but probly not if another co just wants to spy or microsoft buys em back. Ooh thats gonna make me mad if we don't get leaks after all this.)

You do realize that there is a possibility that he obtained these 100% legally with no obligation to keep them. Not to mention the fact that someone with the ability to obtain these (if they are the real deal) would likely not be someone who is completely stupid. Wouldn't be surprised if they are legit and what he is doing is perfectly legal.

Got to be weary of a "dev kit" with a slot to house a 3.5" floppy drive...

This is no different than selling ES processors on ebay, and we all know how that turned out for the people selling them. This has nothing to do with capitalism, so please stop pretending it does.
