Monitor needs to be replaced?

The monitor to my 2002 computer went out awhile ago. It has power but the screen is black - no text, nothing. I hooked up another monitor to the computer and it works fine so I can assume there's nothing wrong with video card, etc., and I used tried power/connection from the working monitor on the old monitor but it still didn't come up. My guess is that all I can do is buy a new monitor or continue to share the working monitor but I thought I'd check here to see if anyone knew what else I might try.
