My DVD ROM is not reading DVD 9

Hi guys

My dvd rom is not reading some dvd 9 games. And sometimes when I insert a dvd 9, the dvd rom starts to make noise. Also if it reads the dvd, while I am in the setup of the game it starts to make noise and then the setup crashes.

Note: the model of dvd rom is: ATAPI DVD A DH20A4P

I'm guessing these DVDs work fine in other drives? Unfortunately your drive might be on it's way out. Good thing is DVD drive are relatively inexpensive these days. Mine lasted about 5 yr then started to make odd noises and wasn't able to read CDs (data & audio) & DVDs (data & movies).

As you said maybe the drive is on its way out, but couldn't it be that the lens of the dvd rom has to be cleaned? (That's what I read in websites while searching for my problem)

It certainly won't hurt to try to clean it.
