My monitor screen keeps blacking out

MY monitor screen keeps blacking out. Like when i turn on my computer, my screen turns black but its still on.
MY monitor is still on but just black and i don't why.
i keep turning the monitor off when it turns black and turning it back on but it only stays on for like 2-3 secs then goes all black again.
Anyone know why this is happening? And do you know how to fix it?
please i need help asap!

Sounds like a defective monitor. What is the brand and model. There are a good many awful screens that only last 15 months or so... and repair is impossible. Tell us the brand. We can tell you more.

well i'm not good at finding the model number but the monitor brand is HPv15 and the computer is Windows Vista Home Premium just incase.

I think the model number is HSTND-2LO4


so yeah.. plz help me

That HP is a good model, so the problem which is typical of one of the cheap Envision, KDS, ViewSonic surprises me.

If it is still under warranty, contact HP immediately. They will send you a new one and pay for shipping on the old one back to HP.

It worked for my flat screen monitor. It was just a suggestion.

It was NOT a CRT monitor, but an analog flat panel HP vs19e monitor...

How old was that monitor? Gooey capacitors? I don't see any of those old capacitors on the circuit layout.
