@Adrian Hole :: Which Windows are you using, Win/10? You need a new driver from the OEM site, not MS Update.

I was having this issue as well! Thanks to tsubwoofer69 I was able to update my driver and this solved the issue! Thank you SO much, I work from home and have been having internet outages for weeks and NO ONE was able to fix it! You saved me tons of lost revenue!

Hello I am having this same issue with connecting through the ethernet , but no Wi-Fi connection, I don't know how this happened , I didn't start to notice this till after I had just gotten off a video chat through Skype after closing out the chat was when I noticed no Wi-Fi .
I have read this thread but no success at the bottom of the screen there is a box like symbol with an x on it. I have win 8.1 I don't know what to Do ?

It's possible that the internal wifi adapter has failed. You can purchase a low cost USB wifi adapter like this example

Problem solved all of the other advice here didnt help but I was determined to figure this out , this is how I fixed it . Go into your device settings under network adapters uninstall Realte PCle FE Family Controller right click uninstall , restart your computer , once booted up it will auto install the network adapter drivers. After I did this I could see my Wi-Fi connections again , maybe this will help someone I hope so..

Everyone should know that there will be no options for wireless unless that the WLAN auto configuration service is started under services in computer management. You won't even have it listed in network connections. Maybe what joebeard said will reset it, anyway you can just go to computer management and start the service.

If WLAN auto coniguration service is not started in Services under computer management you will not have options for wireless. I will not be listed under Network and internet in settings and it will have not be there when you go to change adapter options.

If you reboot with ethernet disconnected, then any missing driver(s) should be auto-discovered.
Hey guys I followed all the steps u guys gave me msatly @jobeard s and my wifi is now working but the connection is very faint for some reason, it seems to be connecting and dissconnecting quickly but thats just what I think. can anyone help me? btw I have win10 and troubleshooting doesent work, it just resets my connection and says it fixed the problem but it hasent. If I try to reset the router my wifi works great for about 2 mins, thanks

What is your os and the make and model of your network card?
I have a 64bit os and idk which one its supposed to be but I have all theese in my Network adapters

Just like everyone else in this thread, my laptop won't connect to wireless WiFi yet works on ethernet. The difference from mine however is that it sometimes connects to the Internet and when it does, it usually crashes after a few minutes.
My laptop is windows 8.1 and I have factory reset it twice and reset the Internet drivers but none of that worked.

Hi,so I have this problem so I installed like a software that updates the drives and my network stopped working on my laptop when I came to see what is the problem my wireless driver disappeared I dont know what I did now I have this Ethernet thingy and when I connect my laptop to this Ethernet cable its not working it says unidentified network ,I tried to download wireless drivers on chrome but when I download them on my computer through a USB stick in my laptop I open it and its not working I have an Intel and an Realtek PCIe Gbe Family Controller driver . I dont know what to do ,please help me , I even tried to go to a pro technician and he didn't know what do to
