Need some info on a particular external hard drive..

  1. Hello. I was looking into purchasing an external hard drive, but unfortunately, the ones I were looking at were all deactivated on Newegg. I looked around again, and I came upon a drive similar in look to this one for 69.99 at Staples. Now, my question is: Can this model of Seagate FreeAgent series drives be placed on its side (laying flat instead of the stand shown in the picture)?

    As best i can tell....

That is the older version of Seagate's Free Agent line of disk drives (they call it the Free Agent "Classic"). If you click here you'll see its installation guide. From what i see the USB and power connectors are in the stand itself so doesn't look like it can be horizontal.

I believe for their newer Free Agent Desktop line (i think are silver) you'll find the connectors are in the back of the disk itself so can be used with or without the stand (i.e. only the newer ones can be horizontal or vertical)

you'll find all Seagate documentation here
