So yeah, I am having trouble with my netgear router. It happened a while ago when I used a service called open dns. I didn't know I had to register for it and I went along thinking that I could use it. I forgot my old DNS adress, and when I go on my router page, and I try and reconfigure my settings, It doesn't work and ?I have to reboot my network. I am using my parents' laptop. Can anyone help?

It costs money to use netgear's tech support, so I am yet again usng techspot.

the general setup is to allow DHCP to set the WAN side IP and to import DNS address.

your system(s) when set for DHCP, then get LAN addresses from your router and either
a) inherit the DNS addresses from the router OR
b) get the router's address as their DNS which causes your systems request for DNS resolution to process like this:
Code:
system---(dns port 53) --->your router---(dns port 53) --->your ISP dns settings
                                                                              |
       <----------------------------- the dns reply --------------------------+
