New power supply, but no power

HI.

My PC was not powering up no matter where I plugged it too. No lights, no startup, nothing.

I bought a new power supply, installed it and the computer turned on good and all was well...till I put it on sleep mode.

When I woke it up, it turned on for a few seconds, then died. Now it's gone back to the same problem.

What is the reason for this?

There is no easy answer. The following link gives an orderly approach to finding the problem ( https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000312.htm ). The best way is to replace a component with a known good component - the difficulty arises when it is more than one component. If this is suspected the better approach is to do a rebuild starting with the very most basic parts and getting beep codes until a good POST is achieved. This link describes the process ( https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000607.htm ).

Download the manual for your motherboard if you do not have it.

So to update...

I carried the PC to my repairman. He changed the power supply and cleaned the graphics card, and it's now operational.
