New Preliminary Removal Instructions - do you see any errors?

Yes! Seems clear enough. Now why are they getting this mixed up with newbie posting URLs? There is something for the newbie about 'not until after 5 posts'- what is that BD? That's' what some are getting confused with and not attaching the log. I remember seeing it when I first posted, but don't remember the wording exactly. Maybe "that's" what needs to be worded differently so the newbies don't confuse it with the logs.

So if everything go well, is this new New Preliminary Removal Instructions going to replace the old one??

I have taken your input into consideration and thus updated the existing instructions sticky. Thank you all for your feedback.

I suggested that as CCleaner is a bit more aggressive - ATF seems better for clean machines looking to clean up temp files - but for an infected machine that hasn't done it in a while CCleaner seems to work better in my opinion

Okay, thanks. I asked because I run into some who use CCleaner and have had too much deleted!

Their latest releases have been better - I run both programs on my test machine

You also only usually have to run it once now

Hey BD and Bobbye, if we're in (general) discussion

I use a small program called EndItAll
Extract, then run Setup, then run the EndItAll application
Then click on the skull heads
334l195.gif

Then close EndItAll

Before doing anything whatsoever (ie scans, or temp files removal)
By doing this first, the suspect computer may be able to respond better to these scans too. (ie no freeze or lock ups)

Now I know you guys stick to the plan, but doing this, at least when I do this, helps considerably.

Okay, thanks to both of you, BD and Kim. I don't use a 'cleaner' like either, but do use Housekeeping in The Ultimate Troubleshooter. I guess for those who have the malware, it would probably be best to have them run at least one of the 'cleaners' to help with the scans!

Kim, I was saving your post, then looked for URL. Found that EndITAll is now superceded by:
TaskPower3Setup.zip

Just an FYI.

How to use Reset Internet Explorer Settings (RIES

To use RIES in Internet Explorer 7, follow these steps:

1. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
2. On the Advanced tab, click Reset.
3. In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click Reset.
4. When Internet Explorer 7 finishes restoring the default settings, click Close, and then click OK two times.
5. Close Internet Explorer 7. The changes take effect the next time that you open Internet Explorer 7.

Note for users who cannot start Internet Explorer 7 for some reason, use RIES from Internet Options in Control Panel.

Well if this thread is to be locked, then this should at least be said:

Well done Blind Dragon on an excellent thread and update to the original Preliminary Removal Instructions

I (and others) have quoted this thread numerous times to others (requiring support)
On all occasions the response was excellent, with the usual Thank-You from members saying their computer now worked.

Thank-You Blind Dragon on an excellent thread :grinthumb :grinthumb :grinthumb

Now it can be closed :)
