You do realize that the Cold War started because the UN hasn't ever recognized Taiwan as a country and tried to give Taiwan to China in the 50s. Do some research, the UN is the bad guy. They won't ever do what you are saying.

I do realise (but cold war had actually different underlying reason).
I'm saying the 'todays' UN, or at least US and EU and their allies should ensure Taiwan is established as separate, independent country. Otherwise it is just political play.
Just playing a good guy and declaring Taiwan will be defended without actually giving them solid support to define their independence and visibility on international arena is an half assed effort made to keep status quo, not to help Taiwanese people to be safe in future as well. And adding some export limitations to China will not help other nations, not even US in a long run. Decisive actions on the still democratic nations around China is something that would establish the balance, but that is not happening, unfortunately.

This is all a geopolitical game and Biden won't do anything. The CCP knows this but they are afraid of invading Taiwan and losing TSMC because China's economy will be ruined if TSMC is destroyed.

China has spent a LOT of time and energy on domestic chip production; they may also bet they can take the country without negatively affecting TSMC. Worst case, they aren't above pumping a few hundred Billion to rebuild it.

It isn't a country, but it is a board of useless Bureaucrats who make laws, treaties and rules that ruin all of humanity to give these un-elected scum more power. It is basically a global communist panel that mostly panders to the CCP (for decades already) and lets them make predatory loans to smaller nations in order to trap them in the "One China" policy. This is part of what the last president of the USA had the foresight to relinquish their building in NY and close it down for good since they haven't helped anyone in a very very long time.

They don't have the cash to rebuild it and if you understood how lithography works; it takes YEARS to build a fab and bring it online. If any of the TSMC fabs got shut down tomorrow for a war; it would be offline for the rest of the year at the very minimum.
China's domestic chip production hasn't even reached 14nm; they are mostly doing lower end chips. They do tons of mfg but those are LED's, controller chips, etc

Check the list; TSMC has the best fabs on the planet all in Taiwan only.
South Korea has a few good ones with Samsung; but we know those are inferior to TSMC. The 3rd company is GloFlo in the USA @ 12/14nm. Intel is in there too but they need not apply since they don't have standardized processes and don't mfg for anyone else.

Every top end product on the planet basically uses chips fabbed @ TSMC. Some B tier stuff (like Ampere) is fabbed by Samsung (but Nvidia wants 4000 series to be A tier so it went back to TSMC). Samsung just doesn't have the right power consumption and heat dissipation that TSMC has figured out. So yea TSMC is a big point of contention that could cripple the worlds chip supply overnight if it was destroyed or knocked offline.

Umm, no. AMD isn't a Canadian company, but ATi, the graphics company that AMD purchased is Canadian. ATi chose the red and white of the Canadian flag as their colours and that's why they're "Team Red".

When AMD bought ATi, it appears that ATi culturally took over AMD and turned them from green and black to red and white. So while "Team Red" gets its colour from the Canadian flag, it's not a Canadian company.

ATi Technologies (the Radeon side) is based in Markham, Ontario, Canada but AMD (the Ryzen side and parent company) is based in Santa Clara, California, USA.
