Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 Mobile preview build today, giving Fast Ring users of the company's Insider program the ability to test a range of new features and improvements in their upcoming smartphone operating system.

Build 10149 includes 'Microsoft Edge' branding for the first time, as Microsoft looks to discontinue the name 'Project Spartan' for their next generation web browser across all platforms. The Windows 10 Mobile version of Edge now includes the address bar at the bottom of the screen, and there's also a new option that allows users to switch between mobile and desktop views.

This new Windows 10 Mobile build also includes a range of user experience improvements, including updated icons and visuals, Start screen improvements and bug fixes, a near-final build of Cortana, and performance improvements throughout the OS.

More minor changes in this new build include a flashlight quick action in the Action Center, an updated Photos app with support for animated GIFs, and automatic camera uploads through OneDrive.

Windows 10 Mobile build 10149 is now available to download for Fast Ring users, although Microsoft warns that the missing post-upgrade migration screen issue from the previous build has not been fixed. This means that users who upgrade to build 10149 should wait patiently until the lockscreen unfreezes itself, otherwise your phone might end up in a "funky state".
