Newegg ships counterfeit Intel Core i7 processors

I think that this was just a mistake and nobody had the intention to cheat on anyone.
Both newegg and D&H are big companies and I don't think that they would risk their image for just a few dollars.
As I see some people are already thinking of not buying from newegg.

Too bad for newegg.. and for the affected buyers... It's really hard to distinguish original and counterfeited nowadays because there is less distinctions between real and fake ones; unless you are very observant...

Spending slightly over 3 grand with Newegg so far, and so far have NEVER had a problem with one single item. (and I bought a Intel Core i7 950 awhile back.) :)

To me, I think Newegg handled this well as far as this article reads.

Ok so what if someone in the process of getting the chips to newegg replaced 300 actualy chips and made a quick dime? Everyone is throwing around "accident," but when this happens(300 chips) I think its far from an accident. Its not like a couple people reported this.

huh. Well, while Newegg isn't the one-stop, go-to site for parts that it once was, their excellent customer service keeps them at the top of the heap. Good response on their part.
D&H..."grave and irreparable damage"...well, yeah. Never heard of 'em before, and now they're filed away with sue-happy screwups in my mental file. Well done there, boys.

I'm glad that this is not Newegg fault and I think, this will not decreese Newegg reputation overall.

Ok, I retract my previous statement about D&H in light of the new info that it was a different company altogether.

I can't imagine how those unlucky ones would have felt..... as usually I only buy a new system when I urgently need it.....

Wow. This is a cluster F#@k by the distributore to not catch these fake chips. Some heads are going to roll as NewEgg won't take the slight to their name and reputation lightly...let alone affect the relationship with D&H in supplying their biggest volume buyer with bogus parts. I am shocked that there were no quality control measures in place to catch such an error.

Either someone wasn't paying attention, or someone just made off with 300 processors. Yeah, making 300 fakes would be a little expensive, but compared to the profit they would make off of the processors, it was a good investment, lol.

And if someone did this just to hurt the companies, I think they failed. Too many people are severely loyal to Newegg. NE just does too good of a job to be hurt by something like this. And the fact that they reached to customers who hadn't contacted them just shows how much NE really cares about its customers.

I know nothing about D&H, so I won't make any speculations there.

Never would expect this from Newegg, man I would be pissed if this happened to me! I wonder what Newegg is going to do with all the angry customers. Newegg has really good customer support and this SHOULD be handled properly.

OK, I'm pretty sure they already have.

That said, I just received my recent order(s) from Newegg. (11:05 AM Thursday, March 11,2010).

1: Seagate "Barracuda" 320GB SATA II HDD

2: GSkill 4GB Memory kit (2 X 2GB) DDR-3 1333 Mhz

3: M$ Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit

I ordered these parts the previous day (Memory & OS @ 12:00 Noon Wednesday). So, that's 23 hours from placing the order, to my hot, greedy little hands...! But more importantly, the all appear to be the real deal..!

Here I should add that these were shipped via UPS, This for the benefit of people who complain about them as well. They obviously had LESS than 23 hours to do their thing.

So it appears that Newegg has moved on, and for that matter, so have I...!

So, for all the posts from people who are thinking about doing Newegg a favor by continuing ordering from Newegg, intimating they might try another supplier, or still suggesting that Newegg fix this problem, I say this:

1: I extend a thank you on their behalf.

2. Go ahead.

3. They already have.

(I hope that referencing these responses back to the foregoing paragraph is not too difficult).c

If this had happened to me, I too would have been pissed off, and deeply disappointed. But Newegg is one of those companies that will actually answer their phone, and resolve issues when they do. Most of the time Newegg is the injured party because of unnecessary or fradulent RMAs, munufacturer screw ups, (IE, Seagate's run of bad HDDs), and such other follies..

Beyond that I say, "bah humbug to all, and to all a good night".

Hardocp did a hit piece on Newegg that made me lose a lot of respect for them (Hardocp, not Newegg). Newegg did nothing wrong. They reported what the distributor of those fake cpus first told them. The premise that Newegg would knowingly sell fake cpus is quite ludicrous. I've done business with them 10 plus years, have had nothing but first rate service and I will continue to buy from them. It's alway amazing to me this Obama mentality to always blame the big companies (instead of big Government).

Your post sort of made sense until here. I don't exactly understand how one could presume to blame "big government" for any part of this issue. Or how "Obama mentality" could possibility relate to somebody counterfeiting CPUs.

Supply chain woes. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. I've had a bout of online orders lately where the wrong item is pulled from the warehouse. I wonder if the pullers are illiterate...I know someone is not checking the package against the order. Not even common sense is used... If some one ordered a single tube of Bianca breath spray...and added the foam peanuts and shipped it. Doesn't that seem might desperate for breath spray? The ONLY thing I saw in common with what I ordered and the Bianca was the first two letters.

I do see your point and sympathize, but the only way this Newegg relates to the Newegg issue is in assessing the competence the the warehouse staff.

In the fake CPU issue, the workers pulled the "correct" items, they didn't send an "apple core" for a "Core i7". So this was obviously premeditated "theft by deception" scheme that was carried out via conspiracy. I am hoping that it will be tracked back to the source, and released to the public, so as we can know "who dunnit" , so to speak, and no longer need to speculate about, cast blame, or suspect innocent parties.

So yeah, warehouse workers are underpaid, perhaps inattentive, and that can be, (and is) maddening, or maybe even infuriating, it just doesn't relate to this issue.

That said, we're still glad to listen and offer moral support.

Newegg sucks, buy from Wiredzone
For every worthwhile post from guest users we receive, we get one such as yours, useless, worthless, ill informed, and pointless.

First, this thread has been dead for weeks, but more importantly, your post is mindless dogma, seemingly generated by an imbecile.

With that thought in mind, I visited "Reseller ratings. com".

"Wiredzone" carries a rating of 5 out of 10 with 144 lifetime ratings; http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Wiredzone

Whereas "Newegg" carries a lifetime rating of 9.74 out of 10 against 31,000+ lifetime ratings. http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Newegg

Next time, why don't you consider sharing your wealth of expertise with the people on "Twitter", who doubtless will be more empathetic and receptive of your groundless opinion. In other words, you should probably take your less than 144 character "dump" someplace else.

Hey, stuff like this does happen. No need to worry. NEWEGG is the BEST in the business and takes care of their customers with pride and respect. Been a NE member since 2000.
