Next-gen consoles to get more expensive as US considers 25% tariff hike on Chinese goods

My only hope is that once all the "Next-gen" consoles are out everyone will stop calling them "Next-gen" It is no longer "Next-gen" when it is out.

You’re saying : American Corporations took factories to China? Well...
#1 China's currency is artifically held low at 6.9 Yuan to $1

When I lived in China, it was 8.277 Yuan to $1.

China keeping their currency artifically low ensures that it's more profitable for companies to produce in China using their children as slave labor than it is to produce domestically.

Trump is right about that - but the trade war is only gonna mean suffering for American pockets in the short term.
And medium term and long term.

I remember being in a nightclub, in China, 1999, and a beer was $0.60 USD. Laughed my head off, and swigged it right down.

And maybe it was my youth, who knows, but the girls were E and Z.
Come to Romania. In stores beer is always between 0.5 to 1.5$ and in big clubs its between 2-3$ and what you get is really good beer not the mainstream stuff you find in the US :D

Part of the reason Alcohol is so expensive in the US is the taxes on it.

Same goes for cigarettes.

And gasoline...
Gasoline expensive in the US? O_o
The US is one of the countries that has very cheap gasoline with an average of around 0.8-0.9$ per litre. The world average sits between 1.1-1.2$ per litre. Gasoline is expensive in most of Europe.

It's one of the reasons why people in Europe don't go for gas hungry cars like how many Americans prefer to do.

I wait 2 years before buying a console and then get a bundled slim version. Is it really worth buying at launch for a ridiculous cost with only 1 or 2 decent games.

Many countries use DIESEL. Yours included.

Gasoline is expensive in the US compared to Venezuela or other countries not importing it from the Saudis.

If not for America’s racist foreign policy, we would import from Venezuela instead.

Ha! Diesel is even more expensive in the UK than petrol. It's all down to taxation. As of right now, Petrol/Gasoline prices in the UK and Ireland are almost twice as expensive as in the US [source: www.globalpetrolprices.com] so ya, most people outside the US laugh when you think gasoline is expensive.

I filled up my Hellcat at $3.22 per gallon super earlier.

I guess I’m just lucky

You're assuming; rather naively, that the consumer isn't already getting ripped off. The market and the manufacturers will adjust to what sells.
never said that the consumer not been ripped off, I know that, specially now that I'm working in corporate environment where I can see that how much it really cost something and how much the profit is in some cases.
Some will say it's a ripoff (hard not to say) but some will see that this money goes in research and refine technologies. In Apple's case Tim Cook said, not matter how much it cost if you buy it with contract and pay a monthly fee, directly from Apple or from a Carrier, because you will pay it for a year or two then upgrade it again.
Fortunately I had a chance to talk ppl who has a better understanding on these "ripoffs" and while majority is a ripoff some still put that money into the future tech and development, I know it's hard to imagine, but otherwise companies like Apple, Dell, Samsung...etc would've been consumed by cheap Asian companies long time ago and phones developed rather slowly. And now Trump's idea is basically "justify" ripoffs for some companies, while it shouldn't be used as an excuse.
e.g Apple's FaceID, nobody was able to reproduce the same tech in consumer phones, Samsung rather removed Iris scanner because their solution failed on many aspects, probably they will return sometime with similar tech, but until then, it will be Apple the only one who can provide it for consumer in their luxury devices (yes they are no longer just high end).
Apologies for the OFF topic.

Very lucky - enjoy the drive!

Out of curiosity:
US gallon = approx. 3.8 Liters @ $0.83 per L = $3.15
UK gallon = approx. 4.5 Litres @ $1.62 per L = $7.29

I remember about 10+ years ago when petrol / gasoline in the US was 3 or even 4 times cheaper than in Europe. No doubt we'll all be on electric cars in 10 years time, maybe all made in China.

Electric cars need batteries and batteries are made with rare earth minerals. There are not enough resources in the world to replace every traditional car with electric car. We need new car or battery technologies.
