No background

Im trying to fix my friends computer, but to no avail. It seems that there is no background, and that the background feature seems to be disabled at the properties menu. I used avast and spybot to get rid of anything, it found 253 spybots, and 23 viruses. i got rid of all of them, but it still does nothing.

It has :
2.8 ghz p4
512mb ram
96 mb integraded vid card
80 gig hd
win xp home ed sp2

Go and read this thread HERE and post a HJT log as an attachment into this thread.

I told spybot to run on startup, and it found 30 more spybots, upon removal, his background (and ability to change it) came back instantly.

So all is well.

I still recommend you post a HJT log, just in case there`s other malware on the system.
