No post beep, black screen on first boot

Hello, just finished putting another system up. I ran into a problem tough, when I booted the computer for the first time, all I got was a black screen. No bios, no post beep...

The setup:
MSI p6n SLI V2
Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66GHZ 6mb L2, 45nm (not compatible?)
Sparkle 8800GT 512mb
2Gb G.Skill DDR2 800mhz

The PSU didn't have a 8 pin 12v connector which the mobo had, so I didn't connect it. I will roam around the local computers stores for the cable today and see if it helps (hopefully thats the problem).

I fear it was my mistake tough, with the CPU choise. I tought the CPU list on MSIs site was of all the compatible CPUs and didn't notice that it said "in testing" on the side... damn.

You absolutely need the correctly configured power supply to work with a motherboard and video graphics card of that quality.
The MSI website and the Core 2 Duo webside will advise you on capatibility between the two.
